Es ist die größte Baustelle im deutschen Profi-Handball – zumindest im wörtlichen Sinn!
Die Rede ist von der Kampa-Halle, der Heimstätte von GWD Minden. Zumindest war sie das mal bis Sommer 2020. In der darauffolgenden Saison musste das Team bereits wegen Sanierungsarbeiten nach Lübbecke umziehen, seine Heimspiele in der rund 20 Kilometer entfernten Heimat des absoluten Erzfeinds TuS N-Lübbecke austragen.
[–>In der Spielzeit 2021/22 erfolgte die kurzfristige Rückkehr in die heimische Kampa-Halle, im April 2023 begannen dann die überfälligen Sanierungsmaßnahmen der Halle in Minden.
Nun ist diese traurige Geschichte, die lokale Medien schon auf eine Stufe mit dem BER-Debakel oder der Dauer-Baustelle Stuttgart 21 hoben, um ein Kapitel reicher.
Erneute Verzögerung um Monate: Die schlimmste Handball-Baustelle Deutschlands steht in Minden!
Minden, Aufsteiger in die Daikin Handball-Bundesliga, wird zum Saisonstart weiter in Lübbecke spielen müssen.
Der Klub meldet: „Die für Anfang September geplante Wiedereröffnung der Kampa-Halle wird sich weiter verzögern. Wie GWD Minden vom Vermieter, dem Kreis Minden-Lübbecke, kurzfristig informiert wurde, ist mit einer Fertigstellung nun frühestens Anfang Dezember 2025 zu rechnen.“

Die weitere Verzögerung habe übrigens auch Auswirkungen auf den Spielplan von Zweitligist TuS N-Lübbecke, meldet das „Westfalen-Blatt.“
Mindens Geschäftsführer Nils Torbrügge: „Wir sind fassungslos. Uns wurde bis zuletzt signalisiert, dass der Zeitplan steht. Dass nun, so kurz vor dem ursprünglich genannten Übergabetermin, solch eine gravierende Verzögerung bekanntgegeben wird, ist für uns nicht nachvollziehbar.“
Zur Erklärung: Die Rivalität zwischen GWD Minden und TuS N-Lübbecke ist so ausgeprägt, dass es in der Vergangenheit zu Polizei-Einsätzen am Rande einiger Derbys kam, Spieler untereinander auch mit Drohungen nicht geizten. Kein Wunder, dass Minden in Lübbecke vor weniger Zuschauern spielt, somit dauerhaft Einnahmen verliert. Dazu kommt: Die zusätzlichen Kosten für den Umzug nach Lübbecke bewegen sich pro Saison im sechsstelligen Bereich.

Als ersten Fertigstellungs-Termin hatte der zuständige Kreis Minden-Lübbecke ursprünglich einen Zeitpunkt „nicht vor Ende 2024“ vermeldet, später wurde der 31. März 2025 angepeilt. Nun wird es frühestens Dezember, aber nur, wenn der BER-Fluch nicht erneut zuschlägt.
Am Berliner Pannen-Flughafen war unter anderem während der Bauphase massiv in die Bauplanung eingegriffen worden, was maßgeblich zur verzögerten Eröffnung von satten acht Jahren führte. In Minden dagegen wurde zum Beispiel das falsche Material für die Sanierung der Hallendecke geliefert.
Mal schauen, wann diese Bau-Posse ein Ende findet.
