O Vasco mal teve tempo de processar a derrota no clássico contra o Botafogo, no sábado. Sem retornar ao Rio, a delegação cruz-maltina rumou de Brasília a Quito, no Equador, onde enfrenta hoje, às 21h30, o Independiente del Valle, pelos playoffs de repescagem da Sul-Americana — uma fase da competição que desafia o calendário do futebol brasileiro e aumenta a maratona de jogos que o clube terá de encarar nos próximos dias.
Instituídos na edição de 2023, os playoffs colocam frente a frente os segundos colocados da fase de grupos da “Sula” e os terceiros colocados — e, portanto, eliminados — da Libertadores. Desde então, a inserção dessas partidas de ida e volta complica o já saturado calendário brasileiro. O que ficou ainda pior em ano com paralisação pela Copa de Clubes, que esticará o Brasileirão até a segunda quinzena de dezembro.
No caso do Vasco, os jogos com Juventude (14ª rodada) e Bahia (16ª rodada), colados com os confrontos da Sul-Americana, não têm data definida para ocorrer. Ainda assim, o cruz-maltino terá uma sequência dura.
Com o jogo de hoje, o Vasco disputará cinco partidas nos próximos 15 dias. O time de Fernando Diniz ainda recebe o Grêmio, pela 15ª rodada do Brasileirão, no sábado, antes de encarar novamente o Del Valle, em casa, na terça-feira seguinte. Depois, joga com Internacional na Série A e CSA na Copa do Brasil.
Caberá a Diniz dosar o aproveitamento do elenco nas próximas semanas. Após o clássico, o técnico revelou que alguns jogadores sofreram com problemas físicos na última semana. Um deles foi o meia Philippe Coutinho, desfalque confirmado na partida de hoje por desconforto na panturrilha esquerda. Alex Teixeira e Garré são os candidatos a assumir a vaga.
Del Valle em alta
O Del Valle, que levou a partida para o Olímpico de Atahualpa, lidera o Campeonato Equatoriano e não perde desde maio, quando foi derrotado pelo River Plate ainda na Copa Libertadores. O grande destaque da equipe é o experiente atacante argentino Michael Hoyos, autor de nove gols e uma assistência em 20 partidas nesta temporada.
