Šestačtyřicetiletý Thornton působil v kalifornském týmu 15 sezon z celkových 24, které v lize odehrál. Loni v listopadu Sharks slavnostně vyřadili jeho číslo 19 z užívání. Bývalý kanadský útočník se pocty dočkal jako druhý hráč v historii klubu po Patricku Marleauovi. Před třemi týdny NHL oznámila, že Thornton bude 10. listopadu přijat do Síně slávy v Torontu. Velkého ocenění se dočká hned první rok, kdy to pravidla umožňují.
San Jose získalo Thorntona z Bostonu v listopadu roku 2005 a na konci sezony útočník získal Hart Trophy pro nejlepšího hráče ligy a Art Ross Trophy pro vítěze bodování. V klubové historii je Thornton nejlepší v asistencích (804), druhý v bodech (1055), třetí v odehraných zápasech (1104) a čtvrtý v gólech (251).

Během Thorntonova působení hráli Sharks čtyřikrát finále Západní konference a v roce 2016 postoupili do finále Stanley Cupu. Po odchodu ze San Jose v roce 2020 nastupoval olympijský vítěz z Vancouveru do roku 2022 ještě za Floridu a Toronto. V historických tabulkách NHL mu patří šesté místo v odehraných zápasech (1714), sedmé v asistencích (1109) a čtrnácté v bodech (1539).
Jednačtyřicetiletý Vanek, jenž se stal v roce 2003, kdy si ho z pátého místa vybralo Buffalo, nejvýše draftovaným Rakušanem, působil v Sharks už v uplynulých dvou sezonách v roli skauta. V základní části NHL má na kontě 1029 startů a 789 bodů (373+416). V play off přidal dalších 69 zápasů a 36 bodů (21+15).

Dynasty Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Movement in Denver and Houston shakes things up
USATSI Truth be told, there is not generally a lot of movement in Dynasty rankings in the month of June most years. Occasionally we get a late free agency signing, like J.K. Dobbins and Nick Chubb this year. In my rankings, both of those guys actually fell in these rankings after they signed with their new team. I was holding out hope one of them would land in a better place like Chicago or Dallas and have a better chance at carving out a larger role. Dobbins still could in Denver, but I am not optimistic about anyone functioning as a true RB1 for Sean Payton this year. Chubb, to me, seems more like Joe Mixon insurance, so unless Mixon is still in a walking boot at training camp or suffers another injury, I don't expect Chubb to have much […]
