Bei der „Laureus Awards Gala“ in Madrid sorgte der ehemalige Real-Trainer Fabio Capello für Aufsehen. Auf dem roten Teppich sprach er offen über die aktuelle Lage des Klubs – und ließ dabei ordentlich Dampf ab.
Im Fokus der Kritik, über die unter anderem „MarcaTV“ berichtete: Real-Star Kylian Mbappé (26) und Coach Carlo Ancelotti.

„Ich bin ein Ancelotista“, erklärte Capello. „Was Ancelotti angetan wird, ist eine Ungerechtigkeit und ein Mangel an Respekt für all die Titel, die er mit Real Madrid gewonnen hat.“
Capello äußerte sich auch zur jüngsten Champions-League-Niederlage von Madrid gegen Arsenal. Vor allem das schwache Rückspiel im Bernabéu war Thema. „Madrid war nicht das Madrid, das alle erwartet hatten“, sagte er. „Sie haben nicht mit dem gleichen Willen und der Qualität gespielt, die man braucht, wenn man einen Rückstand aufholen muss.“
[–>Zu Kylian Mbappé, dessen Start bei Real Madrid holprig verlief, meinte Capello: „Das Real-Madrid-Trikot wiegt schwer. Vielleicht hat er anfangs nicht wirklich verstanden, wohin er gewechselt ist. Was Fußball in Madrid bedeutet. Das Problem ist aber auch, dass er kein Mittelstürmer ist und er und Vinicius irgendwie zusammen spielen müssen. Jeder dachte, Madrid würde mit Mbappé, Vinicius und Bellingham leichtes Spiel haben.“
Capellos Worte sind der vorläufige Höhepunkt einer zum Teil hitzigen Diskussion um den Real-Cheftrainerposten. Seit Wochen wird darüber spekuliert, wie lange der Italiener noch Trainer bei Real Madrid sein wird. „Sky Sports“ sagt seine Entlassung für den 26. April oder den Tag danach voraus. Grund: Da findet das „Copa del Rey“-Finale gegen Barcelona statt.

So schreibt die „Gazzetta dello Sport“: „Warum nicht auch eine Rückkehr dorthin in Erwägung ziehen, wo das Herz in der Vergangenheit stark schlug?“ Auf welche Vereine der Bericht wahrscheinlich abzielt: die Roma oder Milan.
