Z jeho slov je po několika dnech cítit, že nečekané vypadnutí v semifinále extraligy s Kometou Brno zatím nepřebolelo. „Je to stejné jako minulý rok (Sparta v semifinále vypadla s pozdějším šampionem z Třince). Nevím, co k tomu říct víc. Zklamání tam je obrovské, ale už to nevrátíme,“ řekl Kempný.
Pozvánka na reprezentační kemp i z toho důvodu nejen jemu přišla vhod. Podobně hovořili všichni pozvaní hokejisté Sparty (Kempný, Krejčík, Špaček, Chlapík, Kousal a brankář Kořenář), Poprat se o finální nominaci na světový hokejový šampionát, který se bude hrát v květnu v Dánsku a Švédsku, je i pro Kempného velkou výzvou.
„Jsem moc rád, že jsem tady, moc si toho vážím. Těším se na každý zápas, na každý trénink. Určitě jsme na Spartě skončili trošku dříve, než jsme si představovali. Že tady můžu být, je taková nadstavba,“ svěřil se 34letý hokejista.
Poslední zápas play off odehrála Sparta v neděli 13. dubna. Úvodní ostrý trénink v Porubě tak nově pozvané stál hodně sil. „Nejsem překvapený. Zažil jsem to i loni. Tréninky jsou zase intenzivní. Tři dny jsem byl po konci sezony bez ledu, pak mi volal asistent Marek Židlický, tak jsem se začal připravovat s kluky v Praze. Ale to bylo něco jiného než tohle tempo,“ pousmál se Kempný.
Čeští hokejisté se v přípravě potkali dvakrát s Německem (7:0 a 1:0) a s Rakouskem (4:0 a 3:4 v prodloužení). Nyní dvakrát poměří síly se Slovenskem, které má v nominaci jedenáct krajánků z české extraligy.
Liberec dodal obránce Michala Ivana s Rayenem Petrovickým a útočníky Martina Faška-Rudáše a Róberta Lantošiho. Třinec zastupují bek Patrik Koch a forvardi Patrik Hrehorčák s Milošem Romanem. Maxim Čajkovič s Matúšem Sukeľem přicestovali z Litvínova, útočník Matej Kašlík z Českých Budějovic a zadák Dávid Mudrák z Hradce Králové.
„Čekají nás dva těžké zápasy. Slováci mají kvalitní hráče, silný mančaft. S nimi je to vždycky takové pestřejší, hraju proti nim rád. Ale určitě se soustředíme sami na sebe, na to, abychom zlepšovali naši hru a dělali věci, na kterých si budeme zakládat,“ uvedl Kempný.
Do přípravy v Ostravě se ještě nezapojí hráči z NHL. A první dva dny kempu na zimním stadionu v Porubě nepřinesly ani žádné novinky ohledně případných posil ze zámoří. „Zprávu ohledně hráčů z NHL vydáme v pátek po utkání,“ uvedl generální manažer hokejové reprezentace Jiří Šlégr.
Ten už dříve naznačil, že naděje na účast je u bostonského útočníka Davida Pastrňáka. Svou účast přislíbili brankáři Karel Vejmelka z Utahu i Dan Vladař z Calgary. Pokud dobře dopadnou výstupní testy, dorazí také obránce Filip Hronek z Vancouveru. „Hroňas měl výbornou sezonu. Pár jeho zápasů jsem viděl, hrál většinu sezony s Quinnem Hughesem a výborně se doplňovali. Pokud přijede, bude to pro národní tým jenom dobře,“ těší se na parťáka v defenzivě Kempný.
