Deion Sanders stands firm on political beliefs after Shedeur’s draft slide

Deion Sanders has never been one to shy away from controversy, and he’s certainly not starting now. As the Sanders family processed a bittersweet 2025 NFL Draft weekend – where Shedeur Sanders unexpectedly fell to the fifth round – Coach Prime made it clear he has no regrets about where he stands politically.

Years ago, Sanders aligned himself with Republican donors David and Charles Koch to launch an anti-poverty initiative, a move that sparked plenty of criticism. Still, Sanders remains proud of that decision. “I think I chose correctly,” he said, emphasizing shared values and a mutual desire to inspire and create opportunities for others.

Deion Sanders was furious after every team who passed on Shedeur

Through it all, Sanders has held fast to his principles, choosing to focus on building a better future rather than appeasing public opinion.

Shedeur Sanders finds silver lining after draft disappointment

While many expected Shedeur Sanders to be a first-round pick, the talented quarterback waited far longer than anticipated before hearing his name called. Ultimately, the Cleveland Browns selected him in Round 5, a surprising outcome given his college resume and bloodline.

Rather than dwelling on the disappointment, Shedeur expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “I don’t ever focus on the negative,” he said. “I’m thankful for people getting to know the real me.” Now, his focus shifts to earning respect in Cleveland and proving that draft position does not define a career.

For Shedeur, the journey is just beginning – and he’s determined to let his play, not outside noise, shape his future in the NFL.

Trump throws support behind the Sanders family

Amid the buzz of draft weekend, former President Donald Trump added his voice to the conversation. Trump criticized NFL teams for allowing Shedeur to slip so far, praising Deion Sanders‘ legacy and predicting a bright future for the young quarterback.

Shedeur has phenomenal genes,” Trump wrote, encouraging teams to recognize his potential before it’s too late.

As Shedeur embarks on his NFL journey and Deion continues to defy critics, the Sanders family remains united – unapologetic, resilient, and ready for whatever comes next.
