„Je to takový paradox. Mrzí nás to vůči fanouškům, kteří nás strašně podporují, vytváří nám domácí peklo a patří jim obrovský dík. Bohužel jsme jim to nevrátili výhrou, což se budeme snažit odčinit v úterý,“ burcoval kapitán Komety Jakub Flek.
Brněnská anomálie je patrná na první pohled, z deseti venkovních partií v letošním play off Kometa venku vyhrála sedmkrát! Dvakrát porazila ve čtvrtfinále Karlovy Vary na jejich ledě, následně v semifinále třikrát skolila Spartu v O2 areně a Pardubice ve finále přemohla na východě Čech dvakrát z dosavadních tří pokusů.

Na domácím ledě naproti tomu Kometa slavila jen čtyři úspěchy z devíti partií. „Dneska to nebyl náš den. Úvod asi vypadal, že jsme byli rozklepaní. Přece jen to není jednoduché, máme spoustu kluků, kteří k tomu nepřičichli. Plný dům, nějaké očekávání tam bylo a v úvodu se to na nás určitě podepsalo,“ řekl taky o šestém zpackaném duelu trenér Komety Kamil Pokorný.
Zkušenosti s titulem mají pouze čtyři hráči jeho družiny nastupující ve finále. Michal Gulaši, Hynek Zohorna a Libor Zábranský mladší (v celém vítězném play off 2017 ale odehrál pouze symbolickou minutu) slavili v české extralize, Arttu Ilomäki je zase šampionem finské ligy.
Na východě Čech ale může tíha okamžiku dopadnout opět na Pardubice, kterým hrozí, že dvakrát v řadě ztratí finálovou sérii v sedmém zápase, loni v něm podlehly Třinci. „Poslední krok je nejtěžší, neříká se to nadarmo. Nikdo se nehroutí z toho, že jsme nezvládli šestý zápas. Všichni se soustředíme na jediný cíl, který máme,“ zdůraznil Flek.
Brňané si tak letošní play off protáhnou do úplně posledního možného zápasu, sedmé finále přitom Kometa od svého návratu do extraligy v roce 2009 ještě nehrála. V Brně si celkově užívají pořádně výživné play off, vždyť ve čtvrtfinále přehráli Karlovy Vary v šesti duelech a plnou palbu sedmi klání podstoupili v semifinále a i nyní ve finále.
Únava podle Fleka ale Kometě nehrozí, byť odehrála za čtyřicet dní devatenáct zápasů, Pardubice mají za stejný čas o čtyři duely méně, protože ve čtvrtfinále přemohly České Budějovice 4:0 na zápasy a v semifinále Hradec 4:1.
„Unaveně se nikdo necítí. Jsme dobití, ale soupeř je na tom stejně. Play off je náročné. Všichni to ale máme v hlavách dobře nastavené,“ dodal Flek.
