Um personagem importante da história do Palmeiras faleceu nesta sexta-feira (28). O ex-zagueiro Alfredo Mostarda, um dos principais atletas do clube na década de 1970, deixou este mundo aos 78 anos de idade e recebeu homenagens de sua ex-equipe.
Pelas redes sociais, o Verdão postou mensagem lamentando a morte do zagueiro, que defendeu o clube entre os anos de 1966 a 1979, e relembrando as diversas conquistas do atleta com a camisa palmeirense, incluindo sua passagem pela seleção brasileira no período.

Cria da Academia
Nascido em 1946, Alfredo Mostarda Filho chegou ao Palmeiras em 1966 para jogar na base, mas demorou para achar seu espaço no time profissional. Com os vários técnicos da época preferindo outras opções para o setor, o zagueiro foi cedido a vários times, como o Cruzeiro-RS, Marcílio Dias, Nacional-AM e América-SP, antes de ter sua chance definitiva em 1972, com a lesão de Polaco
Daí em diante, formou ao lado de Luís Pereira uma das grandes duplas de zaga da história do Verdão, sendo bicampeã brasileira (1972/73) e paulista (1972 e 1974), chegando a ficar invicto nas primeiras 43 partida que fez pelo Alviverde. O sucesso como pilar da chamada ‘Segunda Academia’ lhe deu a chance de ser convocado para a seleção brasileira.
Alfredo esteve no grupo que disputou a Copa do Mundo de 1974, na Alemanha, mas apenas jogou uma partida no torneio (a decisão do terceiro lugar, contra a Polônia). Mesmo com a passagem curta com a camisa canarinho, foi a mostra de que seu prestígio pelo Verdão o consolidou como um dos grandes nomes do setor.
Depois do Verdão
O zagueiro ainda teve passagens por Coritiba e Santos. Pelo Peixe, esteve em campo em um momento marcante, a despedida definitiva de Pelé dos gramados, quando este vestia a camisa do New York Cosmos, em 1977. Ainda jogou por Taubaté e Jorge Wilstermann (Bolívia) depois de deixar o Parque Antártica.
Ao todo, Alfredo Mostarda atuou 312 vezes com a camisa do Palmeiras, sendo um dos zagueiros mais longevos da história do clube e parte de um time que fez história para a torcida.
