Um placar que também dá a Renato Paiva alguma tranquilidade para o futuro do time na temporada. Na coletiva pós-jogo, o treinador botafoguense já indica que as chances do Glorioso não se classificar são remotas, vendo apenas uma ‘irresponsabilidade’ da equipe no segundo jogo como algo que pode deixar o confronto como ‘aberto’
“Foi um resultado elástico que dá a possibilidade de olhar este jogo de forma estratégia. Sempre desconfiando do futebol, é claro. Na teoria, somos fortes que eles (o Capital), e hoje o fomos também. E acho que será difícil (perder a classificação), só se formos irresponsáveis de perder essa eliminatória”, disse Paiva.
“No entanto, cabe a mim ser responsável e olhar para o segundo jogo com seriedade. Temos essa planificação de jogos de três em três dias e, dentro disto, vamos entender as melhores opções para cada partida. Não vamos lá para perder por três, dois ou por um. Vamos lá para ganhar”, completou o treinador botafoguense.

Esta vitória e a da partida anterior, o clássico com o Fluminense pelo Brasileirão, chegam como momento de grande alívio diante de um período recente de instabilidade no Botafogo. Para Renato Paiva, os resultado e o desempenho nestas partidas são sinais de que o elenco está se encaixando da forma adequada ao que pensa sobre como o time deve jogar.
“Acho que de pouco em pouco. Com pouco tempo de intervalo entre os treinos e os jogos, as partidas nos trazem a confirmação do que treinamos. Cada vez mais vejo os jogadores sentindo as nossas ideias. Não acredito que tem a ver com a mudança do sistema, mas tem a ver com a obsessão do jogo e a capacidade de tomar decisões. Portanto, como eu acredito muito que eles estão conhecendo cada vez mais o jogo e interpretam melhor os diferentes sistemas. É por esse caminho que seguiremos trabalhando”, afirmou;
