Das hohe Alter merkt man ihm auf dem Feld nicht an. Kein Wunder, denn sein Vorbild ist ein absoluter Superstar: „Ich möchte die deutsche Version von LeBron James werden. Das heißt, ich will noch mindestens fünf Jahre spielen, bis ich 40 bin.“

Am Sonntag (16.30 Uhr) spielt Chemnitz gegen die Rostock Seawolves. Das Ost-Duell um die Play-off-Plätze läuft natürlich bei Sportsender Dyn, aber auch live im Free-TV auf WELT TV. Und Lansdowne hat ein klares Ziel: „Wir wollen das Vertrauen unserer Fans zurückgewinnen.“
Zuletzt enttäuschte Chemnitz beim 81:103 gegen Alba Berlin, gewann danach nur knapp in der Verlängerung gegen die in dieser Saison enttäuschenden MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg.
Als gegen Alba das zweite Viertel mit 4:35 verloren ging, kamen viele Zuschauer nach der Halbzeitpause nicht zurück in die Halle. „Das ist das Härteste, was man als Spieler erleben kann“, sagt Lansdowne. „Wir haben so eine tolle Fan-Basis. Es war unakzeptabel, wie wir gespielt haben.“

Nun ermahnt Lansdowne sein Team: „Wir wollen unseren Fans den Basketball geben, den sie verdienen. Unsere DNA sind Defense und Intensität. Wir müssen alles auf den Tisch legen, und zwar 40 Minuten lang und nicht nur 30 oder 35. Wir brauchen mehr Konstanz.“
Aktuell steht Chemnitz auf Tabellenplatz 5. Doch Lansdowne will weiter nach oben: „Unser Team ist stärker als Platz 5. Mein Ziel ist Platz 3. Dann haben wir in den Play-offs Heimvorteil und sind für jeden ein gefährliches Team – auch für Bayern.“
