Bill Belichick has been a constant in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The North Carolina head coach’s relationship with his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, has gone from controversy to controversy, the most recent involving a commercial in which she wasn’t supposed to appear.
As more non-sports media outlets have focused on Belichick’s relationship with Hudson and the extent to which the former New England Patriots head coach has allowed his girlfriend to commandeer his career, more uncomfortable truths are coming to light.
From his apparent inclusion on the Tar Heels’ coaching staff to the leak of a controversial letter to Belichick’s editor, not to mention the now-infamous CBS interview, many observers agree that Hudson is a negative presence in the NFL icon’s life and the most recent revelations seem to confirm this.
The Super Bowl commercial
Dozens of brands eagerly expect the Super Bowl to debut their best commercials to an audience of millions. This year, Dunkin’ opted for a commercial starring Belichick, Ben, and Casey Affleck. Hudson appeared in the footage behind the Afflecks; however, according to Page Six, she wasn’t supposed to be there.
According to the entertainment outlet, Jordon “forced her way in, but Bill saw it as a way for her to get paid.” An anonymous source revealed that the people behind the commercial “have never seen anything like it.”
The rumor became more likely when Meadowlark Media’s Pablo Torre revealed that Hudson used her influence as Belichick’s “de facto agent” to appear in the commercial. Furthermore, this isn’t the first time Jordon has used this type of leverage to try to commandeer a television project starring her boyfriend.
What happened to Hard Knocks?
The Page Six story intertwines almost seamlessly with a rumor that has been circulating in the media for some time. Press reports claim that Hudson “demanded” to be listed as an executive producer on the Hard Knocks series, focused on the North Carolina football program.
Hudson reportedly demanded that NFL Films executives “treat her with respect, or they wouldn’t get to use [Belichick’s] IP.” This was reportedly one of the main reasons for the cancellation of the project by HBO and NFL Films, depriving the Tar Heels of unprecedented media coverage for the program.
