Geht Alexander Blessin (51) – oder bleibt er? Jetzt lässt der Trainer des FC St. Pauli die Katze aus dem Sack. Blessin kann sich eine langfristige Zukunft beim Kiez-Klub vorstellen. „Ich fühle mich hier super wohl und weiß, was ich an St. Pauli habe”, sagt er im Interview mit SPORT BILD.
Blessin weiter: „Ich habe noch nie bei einem Verein aus finanziellen Gründen unterschrieben. Entscheidend ist für mich das Projekt und wie ein Verein geführt wird. Als wir eine schwierige Phase hatten, blieben Andreas Bornemann (Sportchef) und Oke Göttlich (Präsident) besonnen. Es macht mir verdammt viel Spaß, mit ihnen zu arbeiten. Dann fällt es einem leicht, jeden Tag die 100 Prozent abzurufen. Mehr möchte ich zu dem Thema aber nicht sagen, denn jegliche Energie gilt den nächsten Spielen.”

Die Hamburger haben den Klassenerhalt zwei Spieltage vor Saisonende noch nicht sicher, bei fünf Punkten Vorsprung auf den Relegations-Platz aber ein komfortables Polster. „Wir sind als Aufsteiger in die Saison gegangen, wollen die Klasse halten und auch künftig Bundesligist bleiben. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass uns das gelingen kann“, sagt Blessin.
Auf die Frage, ob es schwerer ist, mit dem FC St. Pauli den Klassenerhalt zu schaffen oder mit dem FC Bayern Deutscher Meister zu werden, sagt Blessin: „Das ist ein ganz schwieriger Vergleich, denn es gibt zwei unterschiedliche Herangehensweisen. Bei Bayern München hat man 20 Top-Stars, zwischen denen man als Trainer moderieren muss. Das ist beim FC St. Pauli aufgrund der Voraussetzungen anders – zumal es vor der Saison auch noch einen gewissen personellen Aderlass gab. Wenn man aus wenigen Mitteln viel macht, kann man auf die Leistung auf jeden Fall ebenfalls sehr, sehr stolz sein. Aber noch sind wir nicht durch, von all den Schulterklopfern können wir uns nichts kaufen.“
[–>Blessin kam vor der Saison aus Belgien von Union Saint-Gilloise zum FC St. Pauli. Sein Vertrag läuft bis 2027. Der Coach wird mit einigen Klubs in Verbindung gebracht – unter anderem mit dem VfL Wolfsburg.
