In Augsburg gab es eine große Unzufriedenheit über den Spielstil des Dänen. Zu unattraktiv, nur destruktiv. Am Saisonende brach der FCA wie im Jahr zuvor komplett ein, verspielte leichtfertig die Qualifikation fürs internationale Geschäft.
Auch zahlreiche Statistiken bieten Anlass zur Sorge: die drittwenigsten Tore aller Erstliga-Teams (35), die wenigsten Sprints, der schlechteste xG-Wert der Liga. In der Formtabelle der letzten acht Spiele ist der FCA auf Platz 18. Zudem ergab die interne Analyse: Die eigentlichen FCA-Tugenden wie Laufbereitschaft oder Intensität sind viel zu wenig vorhanden. Besorgniserregend!
Schon bei der Saison-Abschlussfeier nach der 1:2-Niederlage gegen Union Berlin soll die Stimmung schlecht gewesen sein. Thorup und Jurendic ahnten da bereits, dass es eng wird.
