Shaquille O’Neal was ready to trade half his net worth to become Thanos-Thankfully, he was rejected

NBA fans are well aware of Shaquille O’Neal’s superhero obsession. From his Superman shield tattoo to his admiration for The Hulk, his love for heroic figures has always been clear. But few would have guessed that Shaq harbored a secret desire to become a supervillain-let alone what he was willing to sacrifice to make it happen.

Superheroes shaped Shaq’s childhood, serving as an escape from his troubled youth. “Growing up as a medium juvenile delinquent always on punishment, [I] at least had an opportunity to watch TV and just see supherheroes entrenched inside stories they were telling,” O’Neal recalled in an interview on The Jordan Harbinger Show.

His passion followed him into adulthood. Shaq even fulfilled a lifelong dream by starring in his own superhero movie, Steel (1997). Although the film wasn’t a blockbuster hit, it gave the former NBA star a taste of heroism. Yet, what he attempted just days ago goes far beyond a simple film role.

Shaq and the Infinity Gauntlet

On the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the Lakers legend welcomed his longtime friend, jeweler Adam Mizroeff, as a guest. Mizroeff, a renowned artist, recently recreated the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Gauntlet using real gemstones-valued at a staggering $25 million.

During their chat, O’Neal showed more than a passing interest in the piece. Instead, he made a jaw-dropping proposal, testing whether Mizroeff would take the bait. “So a billionaire art collector is watching this show, and he’s offering you $300 million… Do you let it go? $300 million, that’s my final offer,” Shaq declared, completely serious.

An offer of that magnitude is extraordinary, especially considering that O’Neal’s net worth is estimated at around $500 million. In other words, the Hall of Famer was willing to sacrifice half of his fortune to own the Infinity Gauntlet. The real question remains-what would he have done with such an artifact?

The Infinity Gauntlet in Real Life

The gauntlet, crafted by East Coast Gems in association with Marvel Studios, bears flawless recreations of the six stones that give Thanos’s weapon its legendary strength. It features:

  • An emerald for the Time Stone
  • A sapphire for the Space Stone
  • A ruby for the Reality Stone
  • An amethyst for the Power Stone
  • A garnet for the Soul Stone
  • A diamond for the Mind Stone

Whether Shaq was serious about his offer or simply having fun, his proposal for the real-life replica was shocking. One can’t help but wonder what Big Aristotle would have given up for the actual fictional version-and what he might have done with it.

Thankfully, the world will never have to find out.

Slot seeking new ways to stop opposition as Liverpool aim to bounce back

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot believes he benefited from the aura of Jurgen Klopp in his first season, but knows the situation has changed now that they are the defending Premier League champions.Slot believes opponents felt they could capitalise on his first season, coming from the Eredivisie to manage in England for the first time and succeeding the highly successful German, and were keen to exploit a perceived weakness. However, that played into Liverpool's hands as a squad which - apart from the hardly used Federico Chiesa - had been founded on Klopp's methods took advantage of more attacking opposition to establish a solid lead and then go on to win the title.Slot noticed a change in the approach towards them midway through last season, but by then it was virtually too late to reel them in.However, in this campaign, […]

Fantasy Football: Identifying the players who could see more targets in Week 5

Estimated Reading Time: 6 minutes Last year, I introduced a new framework for understanding wide receiver play, quarterback decision-making and offensive potential. This framework relies on an XGBOOST model and PFF’s impressive collection of route-level data. Using machine learning and this breadth of PFF data, we can create models with the goal of predicting where a target should go on a given play. The resulting metrics, Share of Predicted Targets and Share of Predicted Air Yards, are both more stable than their “actual” counterparts Week 4 Recap Week 5 Potential Breakouts These are players who were open significantly more than they garnered targets in Week 4. In general, players who show up on this list see an uptick in Targets per Route Run and Target Share relative to both themselves and all players with similar target shares. A.J. Brown had […]

Alonso fastest as Albon’s car catches fire in Singapore first practice

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fastest from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in first practice for the Singapore Grand Prix as Alex Albon's Williams caught fire early on.Alonso, who recently admitted 2026 could be his final season in F1, topped a practice session for the first time this year by 0.150s ahead of Leclerc with the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris only fifth and sixth on a track they are expected to dominate at. Max Verstappen was third from Lewis Hamilton in fourth, both drivers within four tenths of Alonso, but first practice in Singapore is largely unrepresentative since it takes place in the day during hotter temperatures compared to qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday at night.Two-time world champion Alonso had the benefit of setting his lap later than most of the field, so had better track […]
