Liga Conferência: técnico do Betis diz que Antony quer ‘vingança’ após saída do United: ‘Dias sem comer’

O técnico do Real Betis, Manuel Pellegrini, disse nesta terça-feira que o brasileiro Antony quer “vingança” no Betis na final da Liga Conferência contra o Chelsea, que será disputada nesta quarta-feira em Breslávia, após sua passagem malsucedida pelo Manchester United.

“Estou orgulhoso, mas ele merece muito crédito. Ele queria vingança e conseguiu. Ele precisa continuar melhorando ainda mais sua carreira com o trabalho que está fazendo no Betis”, disse Pellegrini sobre o jogador brasileiro na coletiva de imprensa pré-jogo.

O técnico chileno negou que o time londrino seja o favorito: “Jogando de igual para igual, acho que temos as mesmas chances de vencer que eles. Não podemos cometer erros por excesso de motivação. Seria fácil para mim dizer que o Chelsea é o favorito, mas não acredito.”

Antony chegou ao time andaluz por empréstimo em janeiro e recuperou sua melhor forma, com nove gols e cinco assistências em 25 partidas. O atacante de 25 anos se tornou o segundo jogador mais caro da história do Manchester United após deixar o Ajax em 2022 por £ 81,3 milhões (cerca de R$ 620 milhões), mas em Old Trafford ele não correspondeu.

O ponta marcou apenas uma vez pelo Manchester United nesta temporada antes de ir para a Espanha. Antony disse à TNT Sports Brasil antes do confronto em Breslávia que chegou a ficar tão deprimido que passou “dias sem comer”. “Eu disse [ao meu irmão] que não aguentava mais”, confessou.

Por sua vez, Pellegrini admitiu que no início da competição previu que enfrentaria o técnico do Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, na final. O italiano trabalhou sob o comando do chileno como jogador no Málaga e anos depois se tornou seu auxiliar no banco do West Ham.

“Enviei a ele uma mensagem bem curta quando começamos a fase de grupos, dizendo que nos veríamos na Polônia para a final, e quando nós dois chegamos, também enviei uma mensagem para dizer o quão feliz eu estava em jogar contra ele na final”, acrescentou.

O meia Isco disse ter convicção de que o Betis pode acreditar na vitória.

“Confiamos no nosso elenco; mostramos que somos capazes de vencer qualquer um”, disse o atleta, que admitiu que seria uma honra levantar o primeiro troféu europeu do Betis como capitão.
