Nečas vypadl s Coloradem, kam byl na konci ledna vyměněn z Caroliny, už v 1. kole s Dallasem 3:4 na zápasy. Český útočník poté aspoň posílil reprezentaci na mistrovství světa. Nicméně vyřazovací část se mu aspoň dle McIndoea nepovedla.
„Říkejte tomu efekt Mikka Rantanena, protože Nečas nehrál špatně. Jeho pět bodů stačilo na dělené třetí místo v týmu. Když ale na druhé straně září chlápek, za kterého jste v podstatě byli vyměněni, světla reflektorů se více zaměřují na vaši produkci. A Nečas měl v sérii jen jeden gól a čtyři asistence, zatímco Rantanen se dostal na čísla pět (gólů) a sedm (asistencí),“ napsal McIndoe, který si „podal“ i Hertla.
Jednatřicetiletý centr došel s Vegas do 2. kola, v něm ale Golden Knights padli celkem jednoznačně s Edmontonem 1:4 na zápasy.
„Hertl v play off neuspěl podruhé v řadě, v jedenácti zápasech zaznamenal jen tři góly a pět bodů. Neschopnost Vegas zažehnout ofenzivu, když ji potřebovali, se u nich řešila víc než cokoliv jiného. A Hertlova lajna byla velkou součástí tohoto problému,“ uvedl McIndoe, který pro The Athletic píše od roku 2018.
