Wird Nico Williams (22) Bilbao verlassen?
Er ist derzeit wohl einer der begehrtesten Spieler auf dem Transfermarkt. Die Bayern, Real Madrid und mehrere englische Klubs – unter anderem Arsenal – wollen ihn verpflichten. Aber: Unklar ist nach wie vor, ob er Bilbao überhaupt verlassen wird. Denn: Auch Atletico Bilbao verhandelt weiterhin mit dem Spanischen Nationalspieler. Das berichtet die spanische Zeitung „Estadio Deportivo“.
[–>Der Klub soll ihm jetzt „grünes Licht“ gegeben haben. Für eine Vertragsverlängerung. Nicht für einen Wechsel, wie viele in Europa gehofft haben.
Demnach will Bilbao Stürmer noch länger binden. Sein derzeitiger Vertrag läuft 2027 aus. Dann soll auch seine Ausstiegsklausel erhöht werden. Momentan liegt sie bei 60 Millionen Euro – ein Preis, den alle Interessenten bezahlen würden. Immerhin ist er damit ein Schnäppchen: Sein Marktwert liegt laut „Transfermarkt“ bei 70 Millionen Euro.
Bilbaos Vorteil: Williams fühlt sich wohl dort. Derzeit scheint er nicht bereit, den Schritt zu einem der europäischen Top-Klubs zu wagen. In München gilt er als Traum vieler Fans, Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta soll sogar von ihm „besessen“ sein.
Atletico Bilbao wird also mehr liefern müssen, als Williams‘ Liebe auszunutzen. Dafür sollen die Spanier bereit sein, ihm ein Gehalt zu bieten, wie es die Konkurrenz tut. Etwa 10 Millionen Euro im Jahr. Außerdem: Mit Platz vier in der Tabelle von La Liga wird der Klub nächste Saison in der Champions League spielen.

Ende Mai gab sich Bilbao-Trainer Ernesto Valverde optimistisch: „Ich denke, er wird hier sein. Davon gehen wir aus. Es gibt immer Gerüchte bei vielen Spielern, auch bei Nico. Wir sind sehr glücklich mit ihm und er mit uns. Wir hoffen, dass es ein gutes Jahr für ihn hier wird.“
Nach den Länderspielen mit Spanien in der Nations League, befindet sich Williams nun im Urlaub. Es bleibt also abzuwarten, wie schnell er seine Entscheidung trifft.
