A seleção brasileira de vôlei masculino estreia na Liga das Nações (VNL) nesta quarta-feira (11), diante do Irã, às 17h30, buscando o segundo título da competição. Criada em 2018, para substituir a Liga Mundial, o Brasil venceu em 2021, tendo chegado na fase final em todas elas. Em 2018 e 2019, também conseguiu uma boa colocação, chegando em quarto lugar.
E para o técnico Bernardinho, a seleção do Irã é o adversário mais complicado dessa primeira fase. Em entrevista ao “ge”, o treinador do Brasil elogiou o rival e pontuou algumas coisas que chamaram a atenção. “É um time forte, comandado pelo Roberto Piazza, um treinador extremamente competente. Eles contam com veteranos que voltaram, foram campeões mundiais sub-21… É uma estreia contra um time talentoso, impetuoso, que vem crescendo há bastante tempo”, disse.
Nesta primeira fase, as 18 seleções disputam 12 partidas, onde as oito primeiras avançam às quartas de final. Além do Irã, o Brasil enfrenta nesta primeira fase: Cuba, Ucrânia, Eslovênia, Canadá, China, Itália, Polônia, Argentina, Japão, Turquia e Alemanha. Os quatro primeiros jogos acontecem no Rio de Janeiro, nos dias 11, 12, 14 e 15 de junho.
Os favoritos na VNL 2025
Embora seja motivo de preocupação para Bernardinho, o Irã nunca venceu a Liga das Nações e não aparece como os principais candidatos ao título. O comentarista Marco Freitas, do SporTV, entende que Cuba e Eslovênia são os principais adversários nessa primeira fase. Pensando em título, o comunicador coloca França, Itália e Polônia como os principais times, com Brasil, Japão e Estados Unidos na segunda prateleira.
Os maiores campeões da VNL são Rússia e França, com dois títulos cada. Os russos venceram as duas primeiras edições, em 2018 e 2019. Já os franceses, venceram em 2022 e novamente no ano passado, defendendo, então, o título este ano. Além deles, Polônia e Brasil já venceram a competição. Vale lembrar que não houve a competição em 2020 por conta da pandemia do Coronavírus.

Os 12 jogos do Brasil na primeira fase acontecem em três sedes diferentes. Os quatro primeiros jogos são no Rio de Janeiro, os outros quatro confrontos acontecem nos Estados Unidos, enquanto os quatro últimos são disputados no Japão.
