Die Ära von Trainer John Patrick (57) in Ludwigsburg war von gnadenloser Hire-and-Fire-Politik geprägt. Kein anderes Team in der Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga hatte einen vergleichbaren Verschleiß an Spielern.
Unter Patricks Nachfolger Mikko Riipinen (37) soll sich das nun offenbar ändern. Denn die Riesen statten den ersten Neuen sofort mit einem Zwei-Jahres-Vertrag aus! Sein Name: Keeshawn Kellman (24).

Kellman machte einen Bachelor-Abschluss an der Elite-Uni Princeton, ist in Basketball-Kreisen jedoch noch ein ziemlich unbeschriebenes Blatt. Denn der Big Man (2,03 Meter) kommt direkt vom College zum ersten Mal nach Europa. Und hat noch nicht mal einen eigenen Wikipedia-Eintrag!
Wegen seiner starken Leistungen widmete die Florida Gulf Coast University (FCGU) in Fort Myers der 111-Kilo-Kante Kellman dafür aber im Herbst immerhin eine T-Shirt-Kollektion mit seinem Spitznamen: „Big Dawg“ (wörtlich: großer Hund).
Nord-Mann für die Bonner Defensive
Deutlich weiter als in Ludwigsburg ist die Kader-Planung bei den Telekom Baskets Bonn. Was zunächst als Gerücht durchs Internet waberte, ist nun offiziell: Alijah Comithier (24) kommt auf den Hardtberg.
Der Flügelspieler unterschrieb ebenfalls einen Zwei-Jahres-Vertrag. Vergangene Saison spielte er für KTP Basket Kotka in Finnland und ab März bei Dziki Warschau. Dort empfahl er sich durch starke Leistungen gegen die Bamberg Baskets im Viertelfinale der exotischen European North Basketball League (ENBL).
Bonns Trainer Marko Stankovic (41): „Alijah ist ein vielseitiger Flügelspieler, der sowohl in der Transition als auch in der Halbfeld-Offensive auf viele verschiedene Arten punkten kann. Er ist groß, athletisch und technisch versiert, was es schwierig macht, ihn zu verteidigen. Doch auch in der Defense wird er mit seiner Energie zu unserem Spielstil passen.“

Würzburg holt nächsten MVP
Ein Überraschungs-Team sind die Fit/One Würzburg Baskets nicht mehr. Erfolgstrainer Sasa Filipovski (50) führte die Franken zweimal in Folge ins Halbfinale. Damit es kommende Saison trotz der Abgänge von MVP Jhivvan Jackson (26), Kapitän Zac Seljaas (27) und Supertalent Hannes Steinbach (19/aufs College) kommende Saison sogar noch weitergeht, rüsten die Franken mit erstaunlich viel Geld auf.
Laut Transfer-Insider Rupert Fabig („Hamburger Abendblatt“) wechselt Aufbau-Spieler Brae Ivey (28) von den Veolia Towers Hamburg zu den Franken. Neben einem sechsstelligen Gehalt lockt Ivey offenbar die Aussicht, im System von Filipovski der dritte Würzburger Point Guard in Folge zu werden, der zum MVP der Liga gekürt wird.
Auch der ehemalige Hamburger Eddy Edigin (29) hat nach übereinstimmenden Informationen von SPORT BILD und Fabig in Würzburg unterschrieben. Nach einem sportlichen Missverständnis bei den Niners Chemnitz hatte der Center die Saison beim Pokalsieger Syntainics MBC beendet. Doch die Weißenfelser konnten bei den hoch dotierten Angeboten der Konkurrenz nicht mithalten. Offenbar waren auch Bonn, Oldenburg und Varese/Italien im Rennen.
Als dritter Ex-Hamburger könnte schließlich Johnathan Stove (29) die norddeutsche Außenstelle komplett machen. Der athletische Guard hat aber wohl noch nicht unterschrieben…
