Bombazo: Henno será el seleccionador de España y el líder de un proyecto a medio plazo para los Red Lynxes

Hubert Henno es el nuevo seleccionador de España. Un entrenador de talla mundial será el encargado de dirigir a los Red Lynxes en un nuevo proyecto basado en el largo plazo para recuperar el lugar perdido en el pasado. Será el primer seleccionador sin relación con España desde que llegara el italiano Julio Velasco el 15 de diciembre de 2008. Y de eso hace ya casi 17 años. Un técnico con experiencia internacional sobrada para abrir un nuevo capítulo para la selección española masculina de voleibol.

Un objetivo casi imposible, un proyecto ilusionante

La selección española tendrá por delante el reto de volver a la Final Four de la Liga Europea tras 13 años de ausencia. Un difícil reto para el que se encomiendan al técnico francés que ya conoce el camino que deberá seguir para estar en esa fase final por el título europeo el 5 y 6 de julio en Brno (República Checa). Su primer partido oficial será el 6 de junio cuando se medirán a Grecia en Arta (Grecia), para luego medirse en el mismo emplazamiento el 7 de junio ante Portugal. El fin de semana siguiente será el turno de Croacia y Rumanía en Zadar (Croacia), todo para terminar su participación el 18 y 20 de junio en territorio nacional en el Pabellón de Deportes de Lugo ante Eslovaquia y Letonia.

Aunque no será lo más complicado del verano. El mes de agosto traerá consigo un objetivo que se antoja casi imposible porque no depende de España. Los resultados en los partidos clasificatorios al EuroVolley 2026 del pasado 2024 no fueron buenos, cayendo derrotados en los dos partidos ante Suiza y Suecia y ahora tendrán la obligación de ganar los dos partidos restantes que se disputar. Primero a Suecia en el Habo Arena el 9 de agosto y luego el 13 de agosto, contra Suiza en el Pabellón Pedro Ferrándiz de Alicante. Encuentros tras los que habrá que esperar al resultado del Suiza – Secia del 16 de agosto para saber si los Red Lynxes estarán en el próximo EuroVolley.

Ahora bien, aunque España siempre tiene que pelear por los objetivos en el presente más inmediato, la llegada de Hubert Henno no solo es para conseguir resultados inmediatos. Lo que se busca con este cambio es dar un salto de calidad y acercar a la selección a proyectos como el de Francia, país de origen del nuevo seleccionador, que lleva dos Juegos Olímpicos consecutivos colgándose un oro (Tokio 2020 y París 2024). No quiere decir esto que ese sea el objetivo final, pero la ilusión es volver a estar entre las selecciones más grandes de Europa. Un proyecto a medio plazo que pasará a liderar un técnico de talla mundial.

Una leyenda del voleibol francés y mundial

Hubert Henno es toda una leyenda del voleibol francés, habiendo sido internacional en 254 ocasiones y, con un impresionante palmarés como jugador en el que relucen dos Champions League, una Copa CEV y conquistar Liga y Copa tanto en Rusia, Italia y su Francia natal. Una vez terminada su carrera como líbero en 2019 en la disciplina del Tours VB, el francés realizó la transición hacia el banquillo para hacerse cargo del equipo. En 2021 se incorporó al Nantes Reze Metropole Volley hasta 2024, cuando desapareció el equipo tras ganar la Copa de Francia. Para la próxima temporada, Hubert Henno compaginará la selección española con la dirección del club polaco Cuprum Stilon Gorzów.

Desde la Federación lo tienen claro: “Con Hubert iniciamos una nueva etapa para la selección masculina que esperamos sea transformadora y sirva para renovar energías y dar un impulso a la selección”, señalaba su presidente Felipe Pascual en los medios de la RFEVB. “La elección no ha sido fácil. Sin embargo, Hubert Henno atesora toda la ilusión y capacidad para liderar este nuevo proyecto a medio plazo, en la que esperamos mejorar en la Golden League y subir puestos en el Ranking FIVB” indicaba el dirigente para recordar que “la clasificación al próximo Campeonato de Europa está muy complicada pero, aun así, la selección va a luchar hasta el final y a hacer su trabajo. Luego los resultados decidirán” concluía.
