Ein zentrales Element in der Entscheidung bleibt die familiäre Bindung zum Verein. Bruder Iñaki sagte kürzlich: „Es ist unmöglich, den Klub mehr zu lieben.“ Auch Mutter María soll vehement dafür plädieren, dass Nico in Bilbao bleibt, berichtet „Sport“. Athletic hofft, dass sich der Flügelspieler noch umentscheidet.

Die Frage, ob er diesen nächsten Schritt in Bilbao gehen kann – ungewiss.
