Bevor die Zukunft beginnt, rechnet Paul Pogba (32) mit der Vergangenheit ab.
In der französischen Sendung „Sept à Huit“ spricht der Stürmer über Juventus Turin und erklärt: „Sie waren nicht wirklich für mich da. Das zu spüren, hat mich schwer getroffen. Ich habe nicht verstanden, warum.“

Im August 2023 war bei Pogba nach dem Spiel gegen Udinese Calcio aber ein zu hoher Testosteron-Wert festgestellt worden, im September wurde der positive Dopingtest öffentlich. Ursprünglich wurde er dafür für vier Jahre gesperrt, Ende 2024 wurde die Sperre aber bereits aufgehoben. Transfermarkt-Experte Fabrizio Romano zitierte den Mittelfeld-Star mit den Worten: „Endlich ist der Albtraum vorbei. Ich kann mich jetzt wieder auf den Tag freuen, an dem ich wieder meinen Traum verfolgen kann.“
Pogba jetzt über das damalige Urteil: „Es war sehr schwer. Es war etwas, das mir genommen wurde, als ich noch nicht bereit war. Die Strafe und die Art und Weise, wie sie verhängt wurde. Es war ein Schock. Vier Jahre auf einen Schlag wegen Dopings, ohne Erklärung und ohne, dass mir jemand zugehört hat.“

Und: „Ich musste Italien auch verlassen, weil meine Kinder direkt neben dem Trainingszentrum wohnten. Ich habe sie begleitet und bin jeden Tag am Stadion vorbeigegangen. Das konnte ich nicht mehr tun. Ich konnte nicht mehr trainieren. Es war zu schwer für mich.“
Obwohl die Sperre deutlich kürzer war, lief Pogba nicht mehr für den Serie A-Klub auf, ein Comeback gab es nicht. Mitte November 2024 lösten sie den bis 2026 laufenden Vertrag zum 30. November aus. Seit Dezember ist er ohne Verein. Das soll sich bald ändern. Verschiedenen Berichten zufolge steht der Stürmer vorm Wechsel zu AS Monaco, beide Parteien sollen sich auf einen Zweijahresvertrag geeinigt haben.
