In a time when many feel strong and tell many stories about her, Angel Reese took on a new job on Tuesday night as she was the one who kept peace in a very heated moment.
During a hot time during the Chicago Sky’s 97-86 win over the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese stepped in to keep her teammate Rebecca Allen and Sparks rookie player Rickea Jackson from a big fight.

This all went down in the first half when Allen and Jackson got stuck under the net as they fought for the ball. Allen’s hard game seemed to upset Jackson, who then faced her. As things got hot, Reese came in fast, putting herself in the middle and pushing Jackson away from her teammate.
Even though she looked shocked for a short time, Reese kept cool and helped make things better.
A good act seen all over the word
The video of this spread online fast, with many saying Reese showed she can lead and act like a grown-up. The clip, now all over the net, shows Jackson still going at Allen after Reese stepped in, but things didn’t get worse thanks to Reese acting quick.
This time is key since Reese is seen as one of the WNBA’s most talked-about players. Just last week, she got criticized for a tough play on Washington Mystics newbie Kiki Iriafen, which some said was too much. That moment and her ongoing fight with Caitlin Clark have made some in the media paint Reese as the league’s “villain.”
But Tuesday told us another story.
“I’m not trying to be the villain,” Reese said in a recent talk, fighting that tag.”I’m just passionate. I want to win. I want to protect my teammates.“
Her game backs up her lead. Right now, Reese is pulling off a double-double-10.8 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, making her a top new player in the league. Her power in the game and being a tough voice leader have made her key to the Sky’s new plans.
The Sky, now 4-10, are still trying to get it right with a team of young stars, including new star Kamilla Cardoso. With Cardoso gone for a bit to play for Brazil in the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, Reese’s job both playing and leading is more key than ever.

At the same time, Sophie Cunningham has been in the news for her bold way of backing Caitlin Clark and how she acts on the court with no regrets. In a past game, people gave her a thumbs up for standing by Clark after she got hit hard by Jacy Sheldon from Connecticut. It was a move some fans named a “receipt” or “standing on business” time.
She’s loud off the court too, talking about “jealous haters” who don’t like the buzz Clark and Reese are making in the WNBA.
So, while Reese gets good words for calming fights, Cunningham gets cheers for facing them right away, and both are liked, but for different reasons. This shows how both are taking on big jobs as new players, helping to shape the league’s feel and story from the start.
In a league full of passion and strong characters, Angel Reese is showing she is more than just talk-she is a firm help when needed most.
