Superstar Mathias Gidsel hat in einer populären spanischen Sport-Zeitung seine große Sympathie für den FC Barcelona offenbart! Mehr noch: Der aktuell beste Handballer der Welt und Meister-Garant der Berliner erzählt ganz offen von seinem Plan, irgendwann das Trikot der Katalanen zu tragen.

Eine überraschende Aussage, besonders überraschend, wenn man den Zeitpunkt betrachtet. Erst im Februar machten die Füchse die vorzeitige Vertragsverlängerung mit dem Dänen klar. Der ursprüngliche Kontrakt, datiert bis 2028, wurde bis 2029 ausgeweitet und auch finanziell verbessert.

Dazu kommt: Sowohl die Zukunft von Jaron Siewert (31) als auch die von Stefan Kretzschmar (52) bei den Füchsen ist ungeklärt. Die Verträge des Meistertrainers und des Sportvorstands laufen bis 30. Juni 2026. Die Vertragsverlängerungen stocken, sind bei beiden zurzeit offen.

Allerdings verlieren sich bei Heimspielen des FC Barcelona gerne auch mal nur ein paar Hundert Fans in der Halle, statt 9000 in der Berliner Schmeling-Halle …
Die Daikin Handball-Bundesliga schätzt der Weltmeister und Olympiasieger natürlich dennoch, sagt: „Man muss jeden Tag kämpfen und auf dem besten Niveau sein. Und ich denke, das ist es, was mich auszeichnet. Ich versuche, jedes Spiel sehr gut zu spielen.“
Und das wohl irgendwann auch für den FC Barcelona.
