Travis Hunter has had a good start to his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The No. 2 pick of this year’s draft has had the opportunity to train on both sides of the ball and has received praise from multiple teammates.

Brian Thomas Jr. is one of the players Hunter has grown close to since arriving in Jacksonville. A couple of weeks ago, he said, “Whatever Travis Hunter needs, I’ll be there”. For now, he seems to be the perfect role model for the two-way rookie.
Thomas Jr. a great example for Hunter
Although the Jaguars didn’t have a great 2024 season, Thomas Jr. was one of the few bright spots the team had last campaign. The wide receiver demonstrated his value during his rookie year by catching 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.
But Thomas Jr. isn’t done yet. He’s looking to make an even greater impact this upcoming season by taking on a bigger leadership role in the locker room.
“He’s (Brian Thomas Jr.) definitely taken more of a leadership approach and role, and he speaks up. And it’s not just from a verbal standpoint he also leads by example. And so that’s another way he’s helping the entire room,” wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett told the Florida Times-Union.
“He’s definitely not resting. He doesn’t have that… that’s not in him. He always seems like, when talking with him, he has that approach he wants to be the best. And so with that, he puts the work in. That’s his approach,” Bennett added.
Later, Bennett concluded: “He puts the work in. The effort is there each and every day, and it starts in the classroom. The moment he walks through the door, it’s almost as though he’s already in that mode whether it’s the classroom, walkthrough, practice field, or weight room-he’s giving it his all.”
Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. training
The second-year receiver is a great example of hard work and commitment – something a young talent like Travis Hunter would do well to follow. No matter which side of the ball Hunter ends up on, following Thomas Jr.’s path is a perfect model for success in the league – or at least the best way to chase it.
