Lamine Yamal wandelt schon im zarten Alter von 17 Jahren auf den Spuren der Allergrößten. Mit dem FC Barcelona feierte er im Sommer die spanische Meisterschaft und mit Spanien krönte er sich bereits zum Europameister.
Kein Wunder also, dass er schon im gleichen Atemzug wie die Fußball-Ikone Lionel Messi (38) genannt wird. Auch Ex-Kicker Mark van Bommel (48) hat nun einen Vergleich gezogen und im Interview mit der niederländischen Plattform „Voetbalzone“ eine interessante These aufgestellt.

Der Niederländer war immerhin bei Messis Anfängen in Barcelona dabei. Als van Bommel im Sommer 2005 von PSV zu den Katalanen wechselte, stieß auch Messi aus der Jugend in den Kader von Barça.

Und tatsächlich: Messi hatte vor Vollendung seines 18. Lebensjahres „nur“ neun Pflichtspiele für die erste Mannschaft Barcelonas absolviert und ein Tor erzielt. Yamal, der erst im Juli 18 Jahre alt wird, steht dagegen jetzt schon bei 106 Einsätzen für Barças A-Elf, verbuchte dabei 25 Tore und 34 Assists.
Allerdings betont der Ex-Fußballer, der Barça 2006 in Richtung Bayern verließ, dass Yamal seine Konstanz erst noch unter Beweis stellen müsse, um wirklich in Messis Sphären aufzusteigen.

Van Bommel: „Dieses Niveau auf Dauer zu halten, das ist das Schwierigste. Messi hat dieses Niveau seit 20 Jahren erreicht. So etwas ist außergewöhnlich. Wenn Jamal Messi bei den Toren überholen will, muss er noch fünfhundert oder so etwas machen. Das sind fast dreißig pro Saison.“
Zudem ist Messi auch noch lange nicht fertig. Aktuell kickt er noch bei Inter Miami, allerdings machen (mal wieder) die Gerüchte über einen Wechsel nach Saudi-Arabien die Runde. Dort soll er sich angeblich einen Klub aussuchen können.

Yamal scheint bei Barcelona zumindest immer mehr in die großen Fußstapfen von Messi zu treten. Wie „Mundo Deportivo“ berichtet, wird er kommende Saison die legendäre Nummer 10 auf dem Rücken tragen. Messi trug die berühmte Nummer 10 von 2008 bis 2021 bei Barça.
Ist der junge Spanier momentan also schon der Beste der Welt? Van Bommel: „Nein, das nicht, aber er ist auf dem besten Weg dorthin.“
