NBA-Star Malik Beasley im Visier der US-Justiz!
Beasley, Guard bei den Detroit Pistons, wird laut „ESPN“ von der US-Staatsanwaltschaft unter die Lupe genommen. Der Verdacht: Der NBA-Profi soll u. a. auf eigene Spiele in der Liga gewettet haben – darunter auch sogenannte Prop Bets (Spezialwetten auf Spielereignisse).
Beasley wurde bisher nicht angeklagt, wie sein Anwalt Steve Haney betont: „Eine Ermittlung ist keine Anklage. Malik steht die Unschuldsvermutung zu. Er wurde bislang in keinem Punkt beschuldigt.“
Hintergrund: Ein großer US-Wettanbieter soll ungewöhnliche Wettmuster auf Beasley-Wetten seit Januar 2024 festgestellt haben – damals spielte der Shooting Guard noch bei den Milwaukee Bucks. In 77 Einsätzen kam er auf 11,3 Punkte pro Spiel und traf 41 Prozent seiner Dreier.
[–>Die Ermittlungen haben bereits Folgen: Laut „ESPN“-Insider Shams Charania ruhen die Gespräche über einen neuen 3-Jahres-Vertrag über umgerechnet 35 Millionen Euro bei den Pistons – obwohl Beasley zuvor als sicherer Kandidat für eine Verlängerung galt. Auch Interesse anderer Klubs dürfte nun abkühlen.
Beasley war eine der positiven Überraschungen der vergangenen Saison: Er unterschrieb in Detroit für etwas mehr als fünf Millionen Euro, legte starke 16,3 Punkte pro Spiel auf und wurde Zweiter bei der Wahl zum besten sechsten Mann der Liga. Mit ihm schafften die Pistons die erste Playoff-Teilnahme seit 2019.
