La selección sub-19 de Jordania perdió oficialmente el encuentro del Campeonato Mundial de baloncesto ante Israel tras no presentarse al partido el pasado domingo, según informó la FIBA en un comunicado.
“La FIBA fue informada por la Federación de Baloncesto de Jordania sobre su intención de no participar en el partido Israel-Jordania del Campeonato del Mundo sub-19 programado para el domingo 29 junio. El partido no se jugará y será otorgado como victoria a favor de Israel”, sentenció el comunicado de la FIBA.
Debido a las normativas de las regla FIBA, un equipo que no se presenta a un partido pierde automáticamente por un marcador de 20-0, por lo que el resultado final sería ese al no comparecer la selección de Jordania.
El encuentro forma parte de la fase de grupos de la competición, en el que ambos países se encuentran encuadradas en el grupo C, junto con Suiza y República Dominicana. Con esta derrota, Jordania acumula dos partidos perdidos consecutivos mientras que el conjunto israelí lidera la clasificación del grupo con dos victorias.
