Ya tuvo una etapa madridista, entre 1999 y 2002. Fue despedido por Florentino Pérez, pero de aquello han pasado 23 años en los que Scariolo ha labrado una gran carrera como seleccionador y se ha convertido en uno de los técnicos más prestigiosos de Europa e incluso ha dejado su poso en la NBA.
La decisión final sobre el banquillo del Real Madrid, para ir planificando la próxima temporada, no debería demorarse demasiado.
