España ha comenzado con buen pie la Eurocopa. No sólo por los dos triunfos en los dos partidos disputados hasta la fecha -frente a Portugal y Bélgica-, sino por la pegada exhibida de cara a portería. Once goles con siete anotadoras y siete asistentes diferentes son buena muestra de lo coral que es este equipo. “Estoy muy contenta por el rendimiento. El equipo está fresco, llega bien, recibimos bien y ahí estamos acertando”, resumió Montse Tomé. “Marcar tantos goles es algo muy bueno que nos genera confianza. Es un lujo tener tantas variantes y esto nos da muchas soluciones dependiendo en que momento”, añadió.

Los datos respaldan a la seleccionadora, ya que España domina gran parte de la estadística del torneo y arrasa en la parcela ofensiva. No sólo es el equipo con más goles (11) y más asistencias (10), sino que es el que tiene mayor posesión de balón (69.5%); el que más pases (1.361) y precisión en el pase exhibe (89%); el que más ataques (160), centros (42) y saques de esquina (21) genera; e incluso más veces se ha estrellado contra la madera (2) o la defensa rival (18) a la hora de definir.

Una jugadora está destacando por encima del resto: Alexia Putellas. La segunda capitana de la selección es la máxima goleadora (3) y asistente (2) de un equipo que ella misma destaca por delante de lo individual. “Esto es un equipo, una cosa de todas y lo tenemos muy claro desde dentro. Esto es lo que nos va a hacer llegar muy lejos”, explicó. “Cuando veo que el equipo fluye, que nos encontramos, que nos asociamos, que la gente fluye y se siente a gusto, eso también se refleja en mí”, destacó tras conseguir su segundo MVP en dos partidos. “Mi objetivo no es marcar, siempre es elegir la mejor opción de cada jugada. Y a veces si tengo una defensa delante buscaré la que esté libre, y si no y tengo opción, finalizaré. No creo que sea una cosa que influya en mi juego, pero siempre que pueda aportar en ese sentido y ser eficaz, estaré contenta por el equipo”, añadió.

Al igual que Alexia, Esther González ha marcado en los dos partidos jugados por España en esta Eurocopa y suma tres dianas. “Hace muchos años que estoy en un gran momento y lo que se está viendo es la continuidad de todo ese trabajo. No entiendo el fútbol que no sea de otra manera que no sea disfrutarlo”, apuntó la futbolista de Gotham, actualmente máxima goleadora de la NWSL y virtual líder en el camino a la Bota de Oro. “No pienso en eso, de verdad. Sólo pienso en ir partido a partido y dar mi máximo”, confesó.

Además de las dos citadas, ya han visto puerta en esta Eurocopa Irene Paredes, Mariona Caldentey, Claudia Pina, Vicky López y Cristina Martín-Prieto. “De cara gol somos unas bestias”, avisó Vicky, la benjamina del grupo, tras el primer encuentro. “Sabemos que cada partido será diferente. Por ahora, estamos marcando muchos goles y esa es nuestra intención, sobre todo jugando un buen fútbol, que es lo que estamos consiguiendo”, apuntó Pina, que se estrenó ante Bélgica como goleadora en una Eurocopa [ya jugó la de 2022, pero no marcó]. “Creo que el fútbol español ha cambiado mucho en los últimos años y en parte se debe a disfrutar jugando y eso te lleva a meter goles”, sostuvo. “Entrenando ves cómo le pega la gente. Hay un nivel muy alto. Desde las delanteras a las centrocampistas, incluso las defensas marcan mucho”, reflexionó.

España suma hasta la fecha 11 goles, sólo cinco menos que en sus cuatro ediciones anteriores. “Hemos tenido muchos torneos en el pasado en los que no hicimos tantos goles, pero ahora estamos marcando muchísimos. Hemos hecho dos buenos partidos y tenemos que estar contentas, pero nunca se sabe qué puede pasar”, advirtió Aitana Bonmatí, que apenas ha podido disputar una hora de juego al estar recuperándose de una meningitis vírica. “Hemos hecho dos buenos partidos y tenemos que estar contentas, pero quedan muchos partidos por jugar”, resaltó.
