As the 2025 college football season nears, the quarterback situation at Colorado remains one of the biggest question marks in the Big 12.
Head coach Deion Sanders made it clear during Big 12 Media Days that he has not yet decided who will start under center for the Buffaloes, and true freshman Julian Lewis is right in the middle of the competition.
All 16 teams in the Big 12 sent at least three players to this week’s media event near Dallas. Colorado stood out, however, as the only program to bring two quarterbacks. That wasn’t by accident.
“We brought both up because I don’t know which one is going to start,” Sanders said of Julian Lewis and Kaidon Salter.
The decision carries significant weight as Colorado prepares to replace Shedeur Sanders, the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
With the elder Sanders now gone, the Buffaloes must find a new face of the program, and fast.
Julian Lewis, a 4-star recruit and the No.6 quarterback in the 2025 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, is one of the most talked-about names in college football.
Despite being just a true freshman, Lewis has already drawn national attention. At media day, he was accompanied by his aunt and other family members.
One moment drew particular interest when Lewis appeared visibly uncomfortable as Coach Sanders hugged one of his loved ones, a subtle sign of the immense pressure on the young QB.
Buffaloes still looking for a starting QB
Still, Lewis has proven he can handle the spotlight. In 2023, he completed 61% of his passes for 2,876 yards and threw 32 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
He also rushed for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading his high school team to a 13-1 record. Their only loss came to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl, further proving Lewis’s readiness for big-stage football.
On the other side of the competition is Kaidon Salter, a more experienced option with a solid track record of his own.
While he may not carry the same buzz as Lewis, Salter offers a veteran presence and could serve as a steadying force for the offense.
Coach Sanders seems confident in either direction.
“We can’t lose either way, with either of those two,” Sanders said in an interview with ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
The choice comes down to two clear philosophies: go with experience in Salter for a potentially smoother 2025 campaign, or invest in the future with Lewis and give the freshman valuable early reps as a foundation for years to come.
Colorado’s season opener is just weeks away, and the anticipation surrounding the quarterback decision is only growing.
While Deion Sanders hasn’t tipped his hand, it’s clear that all eyes will remain on Boulder until the Buffaloes name their starter, and Julian Lewis will be waiting for his moment.

Barák stráví sezonu ve druholigové Sampdorii
Barák hostoval už v minulé sezoně v turecké Kasimpase. Sampdorii by měl pomoct po nepovedeném vstupu do soutěže, tým v úvodních dvou kolech nebodoval a navíc vypadl z Italského poháru. V posledním ročníku obsadil celek z Janova 17. příčku.Rodák z Příbrami nastupoval v Serii A také za Veronu, Lecce a Udine, kam přišel v roce 2017 z pražské Slavie. V nejvyšší italské soutěži odehrál 182 zápasů a dal 31 gólů.Za reprezentaci hrál Barák naposledy loni v červnu, kdy na mistrovství Evropy v Německu obdržel v závěrečném utkání ve skupině s Tureckem rychle po sobě dvě žluté karty a byl vyloučen.
