Luka Modrić (39) verlässt Real Madrid nach 13 Jahren bei den Königlichen. Der Mittelfeld-Regisseur prägte über ein Jahrzehnt das Spiel der „Blancos“ – nun ist seine Zeit in Madrid vorbei.

In einem ausführlichen Gespräch mit „Real Madrid TV“ blickt der Kroate auf seine Jahre beim Klub zurück und gibt dabei spannende Einblicke in seine Gefühle und Erfahrungen.

Eine unvergessliche, glorreiche und siegreiche Ära ist zu Ende. Was ich erlebt habe, macht mich noch glücklicher. Die Erinnerung an alles, was ich hier erreicht habe, macht mich sehr glücklich, auch wenn es vorbei ist.“

Und weiter: „Bei Real Madrid bin ich als Spieler und als Mensch gereift. Real Madrid hat mir im Fußball alles gegeben, dafür werde ich mein Leben lang dankbar sein. Ich werde für immer ein Madridista bleiben.“

Insgesamt bestritt Modrić 597 Pflichtspiele für Real Madrid – dabei erzielte er 43 Tore und bereitete 95 weitere vor. Zu seinen größten Erfolgen zählen sechs Champions-League-Titel, vier spanische Meisterschaften und der Gewinn des Ballon d’Or im Jahr 2018.

Modric: „Hatte Pérez noch nie weinen sehen“

Über seinen schönsten Moment im Trikot der Königlichen sagt Modrić: „Ich möchte La Décima immer hervorheben und in Erinnerung behalten, denn dort hat alles angefangen. Damit begann die Dominanz der letzten zwölf oder 13 Jahre, die unglaublich war – sechs Champions-League-Titel in zehn Jahren. Ich erwähne La Décima immer, weil sie beeindruckend war. Und die Art und Weise, wie wir sie gewonnen haben, verkörpert perfekt, was Real Madrid ausmacht: niemals aufgeben und bis zum Ende daran glauben. Das haben wir geschafft und wir haben es in diesem Spiel gezeigt.“

Was Modrić meint: 2014 gewann Real Madrid zum zehnten Mal die Champions League – La Décima. Für Modrić war es der erste Titel in diesem Wettbewerb. Im Finale gegen Atlético Madrid lag das Team lange 0:1 zurück, ehe Sergio Ramos in der Nachspielzeit (90.+3) per Kopf ausglich. Am Ende siegte Real mit 4:1 nach Verlängerung.

Bei der Klub-WM 2025 kam Modrić zwar noch zum Einsatz, offiziell verabschiedet wurde er jedoch bereits beim letzten Heimspiel der Liga-Saison. Beim 2:0-Sieg gegen Real Sociedad am 24. Mai stand Modrić als Kapitän in der Startelf und wurde in der 87. Minute unter Standing Ovations ausgewechselt. Besonders emotional war der Abschied auch für Vereinspräsident Florentino Pérez (78).

Modric verrät: „Der Präsident war für mich sehr wichtig, vor allem, weil er mich hierher gebracht hat. Von diesem Moment an hat er mir immer besondere Zuneigung entgegengebracht und mich immer sehr gut behandelt. Jetzt kann ich es sagen: Er hat mich anders behandelt, er hatte eine ganz besondere Zuneigung zu mir.“

Modric enthüllt emotional, was er zuvor bei Pérez noch nie bei Real erlebt hat: „Und ich glaube, das hat er in meinem letzten Spiel gezeigt, denn ich hatte den Präsidenten vorher nie weinen sehen. Als ich die Bilder sah, wurde mir klar, dass dieser Mensch mich wirklich liebt. Ich werde ihm ewig dankbar sein für alles, was er für mich und meine Familie getan hat.“
