Aaron Judge sends Anthony Volpe running and gives New York Yankees a spectacular “walk off”

It doesn’t matter that we are just a few days away from the end of the first half of the season, MLB still provides spectacular games with very exciting endings like the one starring the New York Yankees, who defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-5 at Yankee Stadium. The highlight of this game is the way in which the Bronx team won its 52nd victory of the season, where they reached the eighth inning with an adverse score of 0-5.

The walk-off was in the hands of Aaron Judge, who came to the 10th inning with the game tied at five runs and the bases loaded. The “judge” knew that with a long sacrifice fly he would send his teammate Anthony Volpe to the plate. The player lifted the ball to center field, although without great distance.

However, Volpe showed off the power of his legs to give excitement to the play at home. The throw from the outfield reached the hands of catcher Cal Raleigh, but with a slippery sweep, the Yankees runner eluded the out and provided a thrilling walk-off.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Marcus Stroman was hit a couple of times. In five innings, he allowed six hits, walked a pair and struck out only three. However, the chaos at Yankee Stadium came in the fateful seventh inning where the pitcher on the mound was Clayton Beeter who was punished by Jorge Polanco who hit a three-run home run taking Crawford and Arozarena ahead of him. The game was 0-5 in favor of the visitors.

The slab was very heavy for the Bronx Bombers in the final stretch of the game. However, spectacular reactions are part of the sport and although the Yankees are on a negative streak, there are always moments to provide a thrilling finish for the fans who did not lose hope of seeing the Yankees win.

New York Yankees’ tremendous reaction to win the game

The New York Yankees’ victory was a staggered one. The first bell rang in the eighth inning when Austin Wells hit a sacrifice fly to send Chisholm Jr to the plate and in that same inning Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run to take Ben Rice in front of him. The game was 3-5 still for Seattle. But in the ninth inning, Austin Wells came to the plate again to hit a single, but put two runs to the New York cause to extend the game to extra innings.

Already in the 10th, it was Aaron Judge’s turn with the bases loaded in his favor, but with one out against him. The crowd knew that a ground ball to the infield would expose a double play. But a good hit would give them the win. Against Gabe Speiner’s pitch, Judge placed the sacrifice fly, Anthony Volpe, at third base, ran home and after the early arrival of the ball with Cal Raleigh, the Yankees runner had to make a slippery sweep to avoid contact with the catcher and reach home to give the New York fans the victory.
