Im Viertelfinale gegen Außenseiter Griechenland tut sich der Serien-Welt- und Europameister der Jahre 2021 bis 2024 allerdings überraschend schwer. Am Ende steht ein hart umkämpfter 2:0-Sieg (15:14, 28:19) und der Einzug in die Vorschlussrunde.

Ähnlich wie zuvor bei den Männern sind die Rollen auch bei den Frauen klar verteilt: Deutschland ist als Sieger der Hauptrundengruppe A und Titelverteidiger Favorit, Griechenland hat schon drei Niederlagen kassiert und wurde nur Vierter in Gruppe B.
Doch – ebenfalls ähnlich wie beim Sieg der Männer gegen Italien – im ersten Satz haben unsere Beach-Girls richtig Probleme. Die Entscheidung fällt tatsächlich erst in den Schlusssekunden.

Erst unterläuft den Griechinnen ein technischer Fehler, anschließend trifft Lena Klingler zum 15:14. Den Gegenangriff unterbindet erst Abwehrchefin Lucie Kretzschmar, dann pariert Torfrau Joelle Arno. Der erste Satz geht an Deutschland.
Im zweiten Satz liegen die Nerven bei den Griechinnen komplett blank, mit den Entscheidungen der Schiedsrichterinnen sind sie selten zufrieden. In ihrer Emotionalität werden sie überhart, begehen bis Mitte des zweiten Satzes sechs Fouls (Deutschland kein einziges).
[–>Lamprini Tsakalou begeht gleich zwei Fouls, kassiert dafür die Rote Karte. Kurios: Fast wirkt es, als wolle sie sich hinter Melpomeni Nikolaou verstecken, damit die das Foul zieht.
Die Teamkolleginnen sind sich ähnlich in Statur und Frisur, zudem trägt eine die 22, die andere die 12. Doch die Schiedsrichterinnen nehmen den Videobeweis zu Hilfe, stellen Tsakalou runter. Danach fliegt auch Trainerin Sofia Dimitriou, weil sie sich immer wieder beschwert.
Deutschland nutzt, dass sich die Gegnerinnen nicht mehr wirklich aufs Spiel konzentrieren, zieht auf 18:8 davon. Beim 24:16 zaubern unsere Beach-Girls dann sogar: Klingler setzt zum Drehwurf an, spielt in der Luft liegend zu Isabel Kattner, die per Kempa die nächsten zwei Punkte klarmacht. Nice!
Foul oder zu viel gemeckert?: Verwirrung um Kretzschmar-Rot bei Beach-EM
Weniger schön, dass Magdalini Koukmisi in den letzten Sekunden noch ordentlich die Sicherungen durchbrennen. Griechenlands Nummer 3 checkt bei neun Punkten Rückstand und noch sechs Sekunden auf der Uhr Belen Gettwart um, provoziert die Deutsche dann und spendet nach der Schlusssirene höhnischen Applaus in Richtung der Schiedsrichterinnen.
Gettwart – mit 18 Punkten Top-Scorerin – und ihre Kolleginnen lassen sich nicht provozieren, feiern lieber den am Ende souveränen Halbfinaleinzug. Am Samstag (17 Uhr/live bei Dyn/Anzeige) geht’s dann gegen Ungarn oder Norwegen.
