Zadní část jeho Ducati v rychlosti okolo 200 kilometrů za hodinu podklouzla a Ital skončil na zemi v kotrmelcích a hlavně v bolestech. Štěrk mu dokonce roztrhl kombinézu.
Morbidelli byl ošetřen v lékařském středisku na okruhu, ale záhy byl převezen na další vyšetření do nemocnice v Saské Kamenici.
Podle prohlášení stáje VR46 Racing Team má Morbidelli těžké zhmožděniny a poranění levé klíční kosti, zmiňuje web Crash.net.
Už v předchozí kvalifikaci havaroval Maverick Vinales a utrpěl zlomeninu klíční kosti.
