She may have made the WNBA All-Star Game for the second-consecutive season to start her professional career, but 2025 has not gone according to plan for Caitlin Clark. None of it is her fault either, as injuries have forced her to miss several games, while her efficiency has taken a hit due to the inconsistent game action.
It seemed like Clark was past the worst of it in early July, coming back on the 9th and playing the next three games after that date. But on Tuesday, she re-aggravated a groin injury that put her on the sidelines once again. The timing of the injury also put her All-Star Game appearance in jeopardy. The Indiana Fever remained mum on Clark’s status for the game and the three-point contest, which she was set to participate in for the first time ever. Clark has now made a decision on her status, with the Fever’s best interest in mind.

Clark came out with a statement published by the team, outlining why she won’t be participating in any of this weekend’s All-Star events. What puts even more of a damper on her absence is that the All-Star Game is taking place at the home of the Fever, Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
“I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can’t participate in the 4-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I’m looking forward to helping Sandy coach our team to a win.“
Because Clark received the most fan votes for the All-Star Game, she was named a team captain alongside Napheesa Collier. Clark drafted her team before she knew she wouldn’t be able to play, but it sounds like she’ll be on the sidelines helping Sandy Brondello coach “Team Clark”.
