The New York Yankees are going through one of their most questioned stages in years with a roster that does not seem to convince, erratic decisions from the front office and a sporting direction that seems disconnected from its winning legacy. Fans have begun to look to the past, but with a very clear proposal for the future: to hand over the reins of the team to Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.
Everything blew up during the coverage of the MLB All Star Game, when Jeter made a comment that seemed to be directed at the management: “Cashman basically said he’s all in. So I would expect the Yankees to do something at the trade deadline,” he said on FOX, a message that was taken as a public challenge to the current general manager.

Jeter’s words lit the fuse, but it was Alex who poured more gasoline on the fire, in an interview for The Michael Kay-Show, he was even more direct:
All of this has to do with roster construction. And the price you pay for not having Harper, Machado, Bregman… is very high
According to A-Rod, the management’s strategy has not only been erratic, but has prevented the team from remaining competitive. While names like Bryce Harper, Manny Machado and Alex Bregman shine at other clubs, the Yankees continue to rely on conservative decisions that have not paid off in October.

In recent days, Yankees fans have taken to social media with hashtags such as #JeterGM and #ARodManager to make them trend, where they also pointed to Hal Steinbrenner, current owner, for being complacent with decisions that they feel have not been the best for New York.
Jeter already has experience as an executive, having led the operations of the Miami Marlins, so he is in demand by fans along with Alex Rodriguez, who has established himself as one of the most lucid voices in MLB analysis.
For now, the Yankees are struggling to stay competitive and the pressure on Brian Cashman is multiplied by his 25 years in the job and only one title in the last two decades. The general manager is at the center of opinion that is no longer just from fans, but also from the team’s legends.
