It hasn’t been the best stretch for Portland Trail Blazers legend Damian Lillard. Over the past two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, the veteran guard has struggled to find his rhythm and live up to expectations. His time with the Bucks has been marred by multiple injuries, which have significantly impacted his performance and overall development.

Now, the nine-time NBA All-Star has suffered major injuries that not only hampered his performance but also left a disappointing impression during his time in Milwaukee. Most notably, toward the end of the season, Lillard suffered a torn Achilles, an injury that further clouded his stint with the Bucks’.

Doncic wows with magic setting the streets on fire!

However, Lillard is now back home with the Portland Trail Blazers, focused on returning to the court and proving he can still play at a high level. His return to Portland has brought a renewed sense of motivation, fueling his drive toward a full recovery.

Damian Lillard’s excitement grows as he returns to his home team

Damian Lillard’s injury came at a pivotal moment in the playoffs, forcing him to exit Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers. His absence dealt a heavy blow to the Bucks, who were ultimately eliminated in the first round.

But beyond the early playoff exit, the most devastating blow was the confirmation of Damian Lillard’s torn Achilles, a serious injury that now places his availability for the 2025-26 season in doubt. However, his return to Portland has brought a renewed sense of purpose, offering both motivation and optimism for a steady recovery.

In his press conference upon returning to the Blazers, 35-year-old Lillard discussed the feeling of returning. His presence marked a meaningful moment not only for the team but also in the context of his career.

At the start, Lillard expresses his satisfaction and happiness to be back in his house, “It never felt right not being home,” he expresses, and added that “Through it all, I found my way back, it all just feels right.”

The optimistic video of Lillard

The return press conference was well received, and the excitement around Damian Lillard’s homecoming is undeniable, but one concern still lingers in the minds of Trail Blazers fans: his health. The severity of the Achilles injury raises real questions about how it could impact both his performance and the team’s future.

Nevertheless, Lillard offered a glimmer of hope by posting a video on his Instagram account, showcasing clear signs of progress in his recovery. In the footage, the veteran guard is seen working out in the gym, performing complex movements, an encouraging sign for both him and Trail Blazers fans.

Even though it’s still unclear whether Lillard is fully ready to return to the court, the video provides encouraging signs that have sparked optimism about a potential comeback as he begins this new chapter with the Portland Trail Blazers.
