Drittes und letztes Vorrunden-Spiel für die deutschen U17-Juniorinnen bei der Handball-Europameisterschaft in Podgorica (Montenegro).
Gute Nachricht zuerst: Die Hauptrunden-Teilnahme hatten die Mädels des Deutschen Handballbundes (DHB) schon vorher sicher in der Tasche. Gegen die starken Slowakinnen ging es darum, wer wie viele Punkte mit in die Hauptrunde übernehmen kann.

Bundestrainer Gino Smits hatte im Vorfeld eindringlich vor der Slowakei gewarnt: „Das ist der stärkste Gegner in unserer Gruppe.“ Der Vater des niederländischen Bundesliga-Profis Kay Smits (VfL Gummersbach) sollte beim 21:21 (9:11) recht behalten.
Bis zum 8:8 (23.) hatte die DHB-Auswahl von Smits Gegner und Spiel im Griff. Eine Schwächephase kurz vor der Pause bewirkte den 8:11-Rückstand. Zusätzlich ging das Torhüterinnen-Duell in der ersten Hälfte klar an die Slowakei. Deren Keeperin Anezka Stranska kam auf 38,5 Prozent Paradenquote, Deutschlands Louisa Werner auf 15,4 Prozent.
[–>Nach der Pause herrschte Tor-Armut. Bis zum 14:15 in der 42. Minute fielen nur neun Treffer, Deutschland verringerte aber dennoch den Rückstand. Die letzten acht Minuten waren nichts für schwache Nerven.
Die Führung wechselte hin und her, 15 Sekunden vor dem Ende erzielte die DHB-Auswahl den 21:21-Endstand. Somit nehmen beide Teams jeweils einen Punkt mit in die Hauptrunde.
Dort, das ist schon jetzt klar, warten ab Montag harte Brocken aus Vorrundengruppe A: Dänemark ist schon qualifiziert, zweiter Qualifikant aus dieser Gruppe wird entweder Spanien oder die Schwedinnen. Beide Nationen treffen am Samstag um 17 Uhr aufeinander.
