From Pittsburgh to Philadelphia in 2024, and now to Cleveland in 2025, Amy has supported each step of his career. That kind of stability, especially during a high-stakes quarterback competition, matters more than fans often realize.

While Pickett remains sidelined at Browns training camp due to a lingering hamstring injury, a recent social media post from Amy may offer a subtle yet significant clue about his future.
On August 10, Amy appeared in an Instagram story posted by Alyssa Highsmith, the wife of Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith, posing together in front of the iconic “Cleveland” sign at Edgewater Park. The caption? “Exploring my bestie’s new home @amypickett.”
It was a soft confirmation that Amy has made the move to Cleveland, likely with the intent to stay a while. And while it’s easy to dismiss that as just personal life, it sends a powerful message, one of long-term investment, even as Pickett’s role with the team remains uncertain.
Off the field stability, on the field uncertainty
Pickett has yet to take a preseason snap due to his hamstring issue, missing seven of the first 11 practices, including every full-padded session. That’s left the door wide open in a crowded quarterback room. Veteran Joe Flacco continues to take the bulk of first-team reps.
Meanwhile, rookie sensation Shedeur Sanders impressed during the preseason opener against the Panthers, building momentum among fans and analysts. Even Dillon Gabriel, another young QB, is currently sidelined, adding more confusion to the Browns’ quarterback depth chart.
To add to the chaos, Cleveland recently signed Tyler Huntley, bringing the number of competing quarterbacks to six. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has kept his responses vague, telling reporters he’s “hopeful” Pickett and Gabriel will return soon, but emphasized the importance of day-to-day evaluations.
He praised Sanders’ debut but stopped short of endorsing a fast-track to the top of the depth chart.
In this context, Amy’s Instagram post doesn’t guarantee Pickett wins the job. But it does suggest the Browns see value in keeping him around, possibly as a long-term piece once healthy. Stefanski could roll with Flacco to start the season, allow Pickett to recover, and keep the rookies developing at a steady pace.
The quarterback battle remains wide open, but off-field signs like Amy’s relocation hint that the Browns and the Picketts are thinking beyond just Week 1.
