Conforme apuração do GLOBO, a proposta do Flu alcançou o mesmo valor salarial que ele recebe em Belo Horizonte, o que virou um trunfo para fechar a negociação. Isso porque o São Paulo também realizou uma oferta pelo defensor, mas não alcançou o mesmo patamar financeiro do clube carioca.
Nascido no Rio de Janeiro e com passagens pelas categorias de base de Xerém, Igor já carregava o desejo de jogar pelo clube e gostou do projeto apresentado pelo Fluminense. Como ainda não fez sete jogos pelo Galo no Brasileiro, o zagueiro estará livre para atuar pelo tricolor no campeonato.
