The nation’s No. 2 quarterback is expected to commit to a major SEC program

Quarterback Kavian Bryant has drawn significant attention as one of the most sought-after players in the highly competitive SEC conference.

Although he is not yet a five-star recruit, he currently ranks as the nation’s No. 2 quarterback, the seventh overall player in Texas, and No. 39 nationally. Without question, he is among the most pursued prospects for top-tier programs in the coming years.

Arch Manning and Longhorns look scary in offense

Over his last two seasons at Westwood High School, Bryant has impressed both fans and scouts with consistent, standout numbers: 278-of-377 passes completed for 4,724 yards, 67 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions. He has also rushed for 1,521 yards and 20 touchdowns.

With statistics like these, it is hardly surprising that major college programs are showing strong interest. Among those actively pursuing him are the Texas Longhorns, Michigan Wolverines, Florida Gators, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Expected to land with an SEC team

Speculation over where Bryant will ultimately commit is gaining momentum, with many predicting he will join an SEC powerhouse.

In an article by Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, the recruiting analyst noted there will be “many disappointed” by the young quarterback’s choice, but he believes the favorite is the University of Texas Longhorns.

If a decision were made today, I love where Texas is positioned with the elite 2027 signal caller.”… “A.J. Milwee and Steve Sarkisian made a sizable impression on Bryant when he threw for the staff in June. He loves the idea of leading a playoff contender.

Spiegelman wrote.

On June 5, Bryant visited Austin to meet with the Longhorns, and that same day he received an offer to join the team-an offer that could soon become a commitment. The program is eager to secure his talents, confident he will help keep them among the nation’s favorites once their current stars head to the NFL.

Other contenders remain in the race

While Texas A&M is considered a strong contender, it is far from the only option. According to Spiegelman, the Texas Tech Red Raiders pose a significant threat in the race for Bryant’s signature. Additionally, Florida State will get an up-close look at him when it hosts him for their season opener against Alabama on August 30.

Texas, however, is already preparing for possible scenarios. If Bryant chooses another program, the Longhorns are also targeting four-star quarterback Payton Houston as a secondary option.

The coming months will be crucial. While time remains before Bryant’s final decision, programs cannot afford to wait if they want to secure the best high school talent available to strengthen their rosters for the future.
