Tým trenéra Pavla Hapala nevstoupil do sezony nejlépe, vypadl s Legií Varšava ve druhém předkole Evropské ligy, v lize počítá po třech odehraných zápasech jen bod, naposledy prohrál 1:2 s Karvinou.
„Myslím, že nálada je pořád stejná. Bylo by zbytečné o něčem dlouho přemýšlet, zápasy jdou rychle za sebou. Věřím, že výkon ve Vídni bude z naší strany lepší a že přijde i vytoužený výsledek v podobě postupu,“ řekl Hapal.
Baník má problémy v defenzivě, v nové sezoně ještě neudržel čisté konto. „Nechtěl bych však nic měnit na našem stylu hry. Ani to nemáme v úmyslu, ale musíme situace vzadu řešit daleko zodpovědněji, důrazněji a kvalitněji,“ podotkl Hapal. Jeho družinu má do Vídně přijet podpořit zhruba patnáct set fanoušků.
Ani Austria není v ideálním rozpoložení, do rakouské ligy vstoupila remízou a porážkou, vypadla v domácím poháru.
Vítěz tohoto duelu se v posledním předkole Konferenční ligy utká s největší pravděpodobností s Celje, protože slovinský celek bude hájit v domácí odvetě proti Luganu náskok 5:0.
Baník avizoval, že v případě postupu by si chtěl odložit nedělní ligové utkání v Pardubicích. Utkání vysílá ČT sport a řídit jej budou albánští rozhodčí v čele s hlavním sudím Juxhinem Xhajou.
