Insgeheim dürfte Markus Gaugisch, Trainer der deutschen Handballerinnen, in den letzten Tagen ein wenig aufatmen.
Gaugisch bestreitet mit dem DHB-Team vom 27. November bis 14. Dezember die Heim-WM, den Kern der Mannschaft sollten Spielerinnen von HB Ludwigsburg bilden. Doch der Serienmeister stellte einen Insolvenzantrag, die Handballerinnen standen ohne Verein da.
Eine nach der anderen kommt aber jetzt in anderen Klubs unter.

Aktuellstes Beispiel ist Mareike Thomaier (24), die künftig für die HSG Bensheim/Auerbach aufläuft. Vor ihr hatten schon die DHB-Stars Xenia Smits (Metz), Antje Döll (Neckarsulm) und Jenny Behrend (Oldenburg) neue Klubs gefunden. Mit Anne With Johansen (Ljubljana) ist auch die erste Internationale weg.
Die HBF-Konkurrenten, die in den letzten Jahren die Titel stets nach Bietigheim bzw. Ludwigsburg wandern lassen mussten, verstärken sich jetzt mit den Star-Spielerinnen. Die Verpflichtung sei als „klare Botschaft an die Konkurrenz“ zu bewerten, hieß es in der Mitteilung der HSG Bensheim/Auerbach zu Thomaier.
HB Ludwigsburg: War der Insolvenzantrag wirklich nötig?
Dabei stellt sich mittlerweile die Frage, ob dieser Aderlass in dieser Größenordnung wirklich nötig gewesen wäre. Inzwischen sind Indizien aufgetaucht, die nahelegen, dass beim Insolvenzantrag (zu) voreilig und hektisch agiert wurde.
Auch deshalb wurde noch kein Insolvenzverfahren eröffnet, der Verein kämpft darum, eine deutlich günstigere Mannschaft als bisher in der Bundesliga ins Rennen schicken zu können. Der Plan B „mit spruchreifen Aussagen“ solle laut der HBF-Verantwortlichen bis Freitag finalisiert sein.
Foul oder zu viel gemeckert?: Verwirrung um Kretzschmar-Rot bei Beach-EM
Größtes Problem der Ludwigsburger: Sie werden mit einem Schuldenstand von rund zwei Millionen Euro in Verbindung gebracht, den es so allerdings nicht geben soll. Der Insolvenzantrag soll gestellt worden sein, weil ein in der Zukunft liegendes Finanzierungsloch vorliegen soll.
Diese Etat-Unterdeckung ist entstanden, weil der jahrelange Mäzen Olymp (Modemarke) seine „Marketingaktivitäten im Bereich des Sportsponsorings reduziert“ hatte. Trotzdem plante der Liga-Krösus offenbar weiter mit seinem Luxus-Kader, der geschätzt rund 2,2 Millionen Euro pro Jahr kostete – für den aber schon am Ende der Saison 2024/25 offenkundig kein Geld mehr da war. Die Juni-Gehälter wurden bereits nicht mehr an die Spielerinnen ausbezahlt.
Aber: Ein Kader, der in der Alsco HBF zumindest konkurrenzfähig gewesen wäre, hätte sich wohl trotz der reduzierten Olymp-Gelder aufstellen lassen, heißt es rund um den Verein.
[–>In den Fokus rückt inzwischen Ex-Geschäftsführer Sebastian Götz (44), dessen Aus als CEO zum Ende der Spielzeit 2024/25 am 29. April verkündet wurde. Kurios: Götz, seit 2022 einer von zwei Chefs eines Ludwigsburger Familienunternehmens (Druckhaus Götz), soll seit inzwischen drei Wochen im Urlaub weilen und kaum erreichbar sein. Dr. Holger Leichtle (42), der vom Gericht bestellte Insolvenzverwalter, muss so ohne die Informationen von Götz auskommen. Auch für SPORT BILD war der Ex-Geschäftsführer nicht erreichbar.
Klar ist: HB Ludwigsburg und Götz waren bereits seit Sommer 2024 über den Olymp-Teil-Rückzug informiert. Hinter vorgehaltener Hand kursiert in Ludwigsburg der Vorwurf, Götz habe schlicht verschlafen, sich um neue Sponsoren zu kümmern – oder mit Sponsoren gerechnet, deren Zusagen alles andere als sicher waren.
