The Cincinnati Bengals played their first preseason game on August 7 against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. Joe Burrow was the starting quarterback, although it wasn’t exactly his performance in the game that caught everyone’s attention.
His outfit was criticized by the person least expected to do so, surprising fans: Kayla Nicole, Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend.

The reason for Nicole’s criticism
At Lincoln Financial Field, the 28-year-old QB had limited minutes in which he completed nine of ten passes for 123 yards. He had two offensive series and two touchdowns. Despite the performance, the Eagles showed their power and beat the Bengals 34-27.
However, when Joe took the field, it wasn’t his uniform itself that sparked the influencer and fitness trainer’s disapproval, but a particular detail in his footwear.
On his feet, Burrow wore custom Air Jordan 1 Mid “Shattered Backboards” sneakers. However, something that caught the attention of fans was the absence of Nike’s iconic Swoosh logo. And of course, Kayla didn’t let this detail slip by.
On her official Instagram account, the model shared a Complex post with her 841,000 followers in her stories showing the Bengals quarterback’s shoes. And she made it clear that she didn’t like the absence of the Swoosh.
“The Swoosh-less 1’s are upsetting me,” she wrote.

Nicole had a five-year relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs TE that ended in 2022. And although her name continues to be linked to news about her ex-boyfriend and new partner, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, Kayla is looking to forge her own path. Today, she continues to work as a model and is a strong advocate for mental health and body positivity.
Meanwhile, Joe and the Bengals will look for victory against the Washington Commanders on Monday, August 18, at Northwest Stadium and the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, August 23, at Paycor Stadium. Although it is unknown whether Burrow will be the starting QB, it is also unknown whether he will wear his Swoosh-less sneakers.
