We’re diving into the top rookies by PFF overall grade from Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason. To qualify, players needed to log at least 25 snaps. This article will be updated following PFF’s grade release for Monday night’s contest between the Commanders and Bengals.

1. S Andrew Mukuba, Philadelphia Eagles (95.7)

The second-round pick from Texas opened up the second quarter against Cleveland with a 75-yard pick-six in an impressive preseason debut. Mukuba was targeted three times, allowing one catch for 18 yards, and held quarterbacks to a 15.3 NFL passer rating.

Mukuba finished the game with a 94.2 PFF coverage grade, tied for first among safeties this weekend.

    2. WR Jackson Meeks, Detroit Lions (90.7)

Meeks saw seven targets against Miami and brought in each one for 93 yards (second most among rookie receivers) and a touchdown. He forced a missed tackle and had two gains of 15-plus yards while moving the chains six times. All but one of Meeks’ targets came into zone coverage, against which he led the position with a 92.1 PFF receiving grade. He averaged 5.0 yards after the catch per reception and finished the day with a perfect passer rating when targeted.

The undrafted wideout from Syracuse ranks as the fourth-highest-graded player at the position through preseason Week 2 (88.0). He has caught 11 of 12 targets for 176 yards and two touchdowns and is averaging 3.03 yards per route run.

      3. G Josh Priebe, Miami Dolphins (89.3)

Priebe took a big leap in grading this week, going from a 50.3 mark against Chicago in preseason Week 1 to an 89.3 mark against Detroit (third among guards). He also earned the third-best PFF run-blocking grade at the position (87.9), thanks to an outstanding 87.6 zone PFF run-blocking grade (six snaps).

Priebe played 17 pass-blocking snaps against the Lions and did not let up a single pressure, earning a 73.8 PFF pass-blocking grade.

        4. S Makari Paige, New York Giants (87.1)

Paige improved upon his 54.1 PFF overall grade against Buffalo in preseason Week 1 by earning an 87.1 mark against the Jets (fifth among safeties). He allowed two catches on two targets, including a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter while lined up in the slot, but he also delivered a big play earlier in the second half when he made a diving interception with the Jets threatening to move into Giants territory.

          5. WR Efton Chism III, New England Patriots (86.9)

Chism secured all six of his targets against Minnesota for 71 yards and four first downs. He caught a 12-yard touchdown pass on a third-and-9 play in the second quarter, evading multiple defenders on his way to the end zone. He also averaged 5.8 yards after the catch per reception and 4.44 yards per route run.

The former Eastern Washington Eagle is the fourth-highest-graded rookie receiver through preseason Week 2 (85.6). He has caught 12 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns with six forced missed tackles through two games.

            6. S Dean Clark, New York Jets (86.8)

Clark bounced back from a 41.2 PFF overall grade against Green Bay in Week 1 with an 86.8 mark against the Giants. He played 36 coverage snaps, allowing two catches across three targets for 19 yards. He came up with multiple big plays in the red zone, recording a pass breakup and a sack late in the third quarter. Clark also secured a deflected pass for an interception late in the fourth quarter.

He finished the game with three tackles and a coverage stop, holding quarterbacks to a 44.4 NFL passer rating.

              7. WR Theo Wease, Miami Dolphins (86.0)

Wease was held to one catch for five yards across three targets against Chicago in Week 1. This week, he led all rookie receivers with nine targets, securing six for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

Wease gained five first downs and amassed three gains of 15-plus yards. Five of his catches came from the intermediate area of the field, where he finished with a 93.1 PFF receiving grade and a perfect passer rating when targeted. Five of his catches came against single coverage, including both of his touchdowns.

The former Missouri Tiger has a 92.6 PFF receiving grade on intermediate throws this preseason, ranking sixth among all receivers.

                8. WR Tre Harris, Los Angeles Chargers (85.4)

Harris had logged two targets through two games entering Week 2 of the preseason. He saw eight targets against the Rams, recording six catches for 85 yards (third among rookies) and five first downs. He caught three of four short-area targets for 28 yards and two first down. He secured two of three intermediate targets for 23 yards, both first downs. And he secured his lone deep target for 34 yards.

Harris’ production also came against both coverage schemes — three catches each against zone (74.6 PFF receiving grade) and single (90.4 PFF receiving grade) coverage.

                  9. LB Jihaad Campbell, Philadelphia Eagles (85.0)

Campbell soared from a 59.6 outing against Cincinnati to an 85.0 PFF overall grade against Cleveland (third among linebackers). The former Alabama star recorded a sack on the second play of the game, finishing with a 73.6 PFF pass-rush grade across three designed pass rushes. He also flashed in coverage, allowing only one catch for four yards and recording two coverage stops.

                    10. LB Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Cleveland Browns (84.4)

Mascarenas-Arnold earned the third-best PFF run-defense grade among all linebackers this weekend (88.8), recording two stops and an assist on 15 run-defense snaps. He also limited receivers to two catches for eight yards across three targets into his coverage.

The undrafted USC product owns an 80.9 PFF overall grade through the first two weeks of the preseason (fifth among rookie linebackers). He leads all rookie linebackers in PFF run-defense grade (83.5), with three stops and two assists on 22 run-defense snaps. He also ranks in the top 10 among rookies in PFF tackling grade (82.5) and PFF coverage grade (72.6).

Arch Manning refutes grandfather’s prediction that QB will stay at Texas: “I don’t know where he got that from’

In August, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning told NFL teams they shouldn't tank for his grandson, Texas quarterback Arch Manning, ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Archie made it clear Arch had no intention of leaving Texas after the 2025 season, saying Arch will "be at Texas."Turns out, Archie may have spoken out of turn. When asked about those comments Tuesday, Arch said he wasn't sure where his grandfather got that idea. The Texas quarterback added that he considers his situation at Texas "day-to-day" for now. That's probably a wise move. Given his pedigree — and his family — big things are expected from Manning as he steps into the starting role at Texas. While he wasn't the team's top option as a freshman, Manning flashed plenty of potential last season, throwing nine touchdowns against two interceptions in 10 […]

Jets QB Justin Fields on Their Passing Game: ‘We’re Fine With 8-Yard Completions’

The New York Jets' passing game has been short on long passes this summer. The lack of deep throws has some fans anxious, wondering if Justin Fields and the offense will be able to stretch the field against opponents this season when needed. Well, relying on the run and mixing in short passes might be an effective alternative."I mean, yeah, we’re fine with taking 8-yard completions every play, if I’m being honest with you," Fields said Tuesday before practice.Fields and the starters on offense played just two series in the Jets' 31-12 preseason loss to the Giants last Saturday night — and it was hardly an eye-popping display through the air.Fields, signed to a two-year, $40 million deal in the offseason to replace Aaron Rodgers as the Jets’ starting quarterback, went just 1-for-5 passing for 4 yards. Meanwhile, New York ran […]
