Willy Hernangómez habla de su última temporada en el Barça: “He perdido la pasión por el baloncesto”

El pívot del Barça, Willy Hernangómez, se ha sincerado como nunca en una extensa entrevista en La Bombilla, el podcast de Miguel Sánchez, conocido en redes como Pablo Lolaso. A las puertas del Eurobasket, donde ejercerá como capitán de la selección española, el madrileño repasó su trayectoria reciente y desveló lo difícil que resultó para él su última temporada en el conjunto azulgrana.

Hernangómez reconoce que en el pasado curso llegó a desconectarse del deporte que le ha acompañado toda su vida: “Tuve un momento complicado de perder el amor y la pasión por el baloncesto esta última temporada. No me sentía feliz ni a gusto con lo que estaba haciendo. Iba a entrenar porque era lo que tocaba, intentaba encontrar la manera, pero llega un momento en el que tú solo no puedes ni sabes”.

El internacional español explicó que decidió acudir a terapia para gestionar la situación, un paso que considera clave en su recuperación emocional: “Hablé con mi familia y gente cercana para buscar ayuda y empezar a trabajar las emociones y la salud mental. Me ha venido muy bien, he vuelto a conectar mi cabeza, saber lo que quieres y lo que no”.

El pívot también habló de las críticas que suele recibir, especialmente en lo referente a su faceta defensiva. “Acepto todas las críticas y me resbalan la mitad. Solo me importan de la gente que sabe, como el entrenador, el cuerpo técnico, mis compañeros o mi familia. El resto no han tenido mi carrera y no tienen ni idea”, asegura.

Asimismo, señala que en ocasiones el ambiente en el vestuario blaugrana ha sido tenso, incluso más que en episodios conocidos públicamente. “Este último año hubo cosas peores que no salieron a la luz“, indica.

El madrileño repasó también su decisión de volver a Europa en 2023, cuando eligió la propuesta del Barça pese a recibir ofertas de otros clubes, incluido el Real Madrid, su club de formación.

Me hubiera gustado que las cosas hubieran salido diferentes con el Madrid, pero la oferta que me hicieron era como si no hubiera. En la NBA entendí que esto es trabajo, y yo quería jugar, sentirme importante. El Barça apostó por mí, Barcelona es una ciudad increíble”, afirma.
