O jornalista, Jorge Nicola, nesta quinta-feira (21), trouxe a informação de que o atacante Ángel Romero está com seus dias contados no clube. Assim, ele explicou que candidatos a eleição do Timão veem o paraguaio com um custo-benefício muito baixo, e devem encaminhar sua saída.

Aos 33 anos, Ángel Romero vai para os últimos 4 meses de contrato com o Corinthians. Assim, Nicola informou que a eleição do Timão, na segunda-feira (25), vai selar o destino do paraguaio. Provavelmente, o fim do vínculo é o que está próximo de acontecer.
“O paraguaio Ángel Romero pode estar vivendo as últimas semanas com a camisa do Timão. Seu contrato acaba em dezembro deste ano e, se Osmar Stábile, o atual presidente, for eleito na votação marcada para a próxima segunda-feira, dá para garantir que Romero não deve permanecer para 2026”, confirmou Jorge Nicola.
Além disso, Nicola informou que o Corinthians faz uma avaliação interna. Assim, definiu que Ángel Romero não justifica em campo o alto salário que recebe no Timão. O paraguaio fez apenas 5 gols em 44 partidas em 2025, muito diferente das 14 bolas na rede que ele entregou na temporada passada.
“Só para lembrar: o presidente atual e seu grupo entendem que o atacante tem um custo-benefício extremamente ruim. Romero recebe na casa dos R$ 800 mil por mês, somando salários, direitos de imagem e luvas, mas dentro de campo tem contribuído cada vez menos. Aquele Romero raçudo, que marcava gols importantes em outra época, se transformou em um jogador mais pesado, mais lento e pouco decisivo”, explicou Nicola.

Nicola também explicou sobre a chance de Ángel Romero ficar no Corinthians, que estaria diretamente ligada à eleição. Assim, um presidente simpático por ele teria que vencer, não é o caso dos candidatos atuais: Osmar Stábile, Antônio Roque Citadini e André Castro.
“A chance de ele ficar depende de um eventual novo presidente que se encante pelo paraguaio. Antônio Roque Citadini e André Castro são concorrentes de Osmar Stábile, mas mesmo assim o cenário é desfavorável. Dorival Júnior, técnico atual, não morre de amores por Romero, e o próprio Citadini também não o enxerga como solução, a menos que uma enorme reviravolta aconteça, com o atacante voltando a marcar gols e se tornando peça fundamental nesta reta final de temporada”, finalizou Nicola.
