O Atlético-MG está classificado para as quartas de final da Sul-Americana. Depois de vencer em Belo Horizonte por 2×1, o Galo venceu também fora de casa, dessa vez por 1×0, e avançou de fase no torneio. O gol foi marcado pelo lateral-direito Natanael, aos 3 minutos do segundo tempo.
A partida começou já com uma grande polêmica de arbitragem. Logo aos 4 minutos, o árbitro Felipe Gonzalez marcou pênalti para o Godoy Cruz após mão do zagueiro Vitor Hugo. Entretanto, após revisão no VAR, o juiz voltou atrás e retirou a penalidade concedida aos mandantes. O lance gerou polêmica nas redes sociais.

Natanael aproveitou o rebote e bateu bonito no canto do goleiro para abrir o placar e dar a classificação ao Galo.
O goleiro Everson, assim como no primeiro tempo, também apareceu bem na etapa final. Ele garantiu a vitória com uma bela defesa aos 37 minutos. Pol Fernández chutou de fora da área, a bola desviou na zona e o defensor salvou o Atlético-MG.
Não só o gol da vitória, mas também o autor foi muito comemorado pelos torcedores do Atlético-MG. O lateral Natanael é apontado como uma das melhores contratações da temporada, mas estava com a confiança abalada por erros recentes.
