The Giants’ preseason has ended, and now they’ll have to wait a couple of weeks before kicking off the regular season, visiting the Washington Commanders in their first divisional game of 2025. The Giants are entering a new era at the quarterback position.
Jaxson Dart is already shopping for a $10 million penthouse after multimillion contract
After six years of Daniel Jones-an experiment they tried to make work but ultimately failed-under center will now be the experienced Russell Wilson, who will serve as a bridge until at some point, perhaps even this season, he hands over the reins to rookie Jaxson Dart, the Giants’ new bet.
Jaxson Dart was selected in the first round of the last Draft; the Giants traded up to pick 25 to select the Ole Miss product. In this preseason, he has truly impressed, showing very promising play against the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and New England Patriots.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has no faith in Jaxson Dart
During OTAs and mandatory minicamp-Dart’s first chance to be introduced to his teammates and the fans-there was nothing positive being said. There were many doubts; he was intercepted several times, and concerns began to grow in Giants camp. Immediately, Brian Daboll confirmed Russell Wilson as the starter, with Dart placed as QB3.
However, once preseason games began, Jaxson Dart has looked spectacular. In each of the games, he threw at least one touchdown pass, and excitement has returned. But during the broadcast of the Giants-Patriots game, Ryan Fitzpatrick criticized Dart’s throwing mechanics.
“I don’t like his release, I think it’s slow… Giants fans shouldn’t be excited at all,” Fitzpatrick said during the pregame show.
We’ll see what happens when he gets his chance, but based on what Dart showed in preseason, there were plenty of positives. Even Russell Wilson could start feeling the pressure-if he doesn’t perform well, fans will be calling for the rookie from Ole Miss.
